Job Description:

Provides vision, leadership, and direction for all NextGen ministry areas, which includes Journey Kidz, Journey Students, and Journey U. Oversees and empowers the NextGen Core Team to create a streamlined development process for Journeyers birth through age 24. Serves on the Directional Team as a champion for families, students, and children.

• Abnormally high work ethic (an executor who makes things happen on a regular basis)

• At least one year experience serving and succeeding (based on core value analysis) in a leadership role at The Journey or another similar church environment, exhibiting above-average creativity and initiative and the ability to consistently motivate and lead self and others

• Healthy relationships with existing staff and leaders (in current position and/or at The Journey)

• A demonstrable calling to ministry

• A passion for children, student, and family ministry


Essential Functions:

• Develops, oversees, and implements the vision for Journey Kidz, Journey Students, and Journey U

• Oversees and empowers the NextGen Core Team to carry out the vision of NextGen at The Journey

• Recruits, develops, and trains high-quality leaders for staff and J-Team roles

• Responsible for developing and maintaining the NextGen brand

• Oversees all internal and external communication that represents NextGen

• Develops and maintains all security standards

• Oversees quality of all NextGen environments and functions

• Champions NextGen at The Journey by serving on the Directional Team representing families, students, and children

• Develops and oversees the vision for spiritual development from birth through age 24; facilitates the transition of children, students, and young adults between Journey Kidz, Journey Students, and Journey U

• Implements innovative, fun curriculum throughout Next Gen that reflects the teaching of The Journey

• Oversees all aspects of department administration to include: budget forecasting, purchasing, departmental account tracking, and all Human Resources functions, including conducting annual reviews with all direct reports


General Responsibilities:

• Participate in weekly staff meetings

• Attend all weekend gatherings, lead (two out of three semesters) or join a J-Group each semester, and serve in some way outside of essential functions on a regular basis

• Practice the personal habits of reading the Bible, praying for others, and giving your first

• Champion gather, connect, and serve
