Job Description:

First Baptist church is located in Newton, Kansas right at the center of America’s heartland. Newton is known for its beautiful landscapes and small town charm just miles outside big city Wichita. FBC has recently been called to revive a church in nearby Burrton, KS. The primary role of the Associate Pastor is to grow the Burrton campus and spread the word of Jesus Christ through the community and surrounding areas.


The associate pastor will have an office at the primary FBC campus and will be working closely on a team with FBC staff to grow the Burrton campus. This position has the ability to grow into full time, as the congregation grows in Burrton.


This would be an ideal position for a church planter that is eager to become involved in the community and is passionate in spreading the word of Jesus Christ. The Burrton campus has an established congregation and comes with a salary and support from the FBC staff to help grow the congregation.



-Visit, pray with, encourage and support Burrton campus attenders as needed.
-Strategize and implement ways to reach those that do not attend church in Burrton and surrounding areas.
-Train and develop ministry leaders at Burrton campus.
-Take Burrton campus outside of the walls through community outreach programs
-Participate in Community events.
-Fulfill roles directed by the Senior Pastor. Ex. Funeral, Wedding, Preach, Visitations etc.
-Attend staff meetings and appropriate church functions.
-Coordinate weekly church services with staff.


-Must be able to work on/or lead a team.
-Communicate clearly with staff and church members.
-Genuinely care for members of our churches and stay connected.
-Train and oversee ministry workers for worship, children, nursery, youth, connection groups, etc.
-Participate as a staff member as we seek to accomplish the mission and vision of the church.
-Work directly with the Senior and Worship pastor to design weekend services.
-Godly character and Christian morals.


-Preferred but not required a Pastoral and/or Ministry degree.
- Leadership ability and experience is necessary.
-Someone with a passion for resurrecting or starting a new church and congregation.
