The longstanding mission of McGregor Baptist Church is to challenge all people to radically follow Jesus.

McGregor Baptist Church (McGregor) opened its doors in 1958 as Southside Baptist Chapel, just outside the city limits of Fort Myers on McGregor Boulevard. Originally an independent mission church pastored by evangelist Dan Perkins, 51 individuals attended the first Sunday service on June 23rd. Over the years, a rich legacy of godly men have led McGregor Baptist Church through significant growth. The year 1968 brought forth increased growth as facility expansions were made. Growth continued to be part of the McGregor tradition, measured by hearts changed through its ministries and the cross of Jesus Christ.

Marked by a rich history, McGregor Baptist Church looks forward to the future God has for them in the days to come. The church is in a season of strategically resetting at many levels, and they look to the next Lead Worship Pastor to collaborate with the executive team as they mark a new era at McGregor Baptist Church.

The new Lead Worship Pastor has the opportunity to enter into a reboot of the worship culture at McGregor Baptist. This is more about being an Equipper-in-Chief – not a Performer-in-Chief. Although a highly skilled musician and leader, the right candidate is probably a pastor first. They will help lead the church in authentic worship that puts the spotlight on Jesus and not on any one individual. The Lead Worship Pastor is responsible to equip the saints to do the work of the Church: proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the biblical revelation, engaging in music ministries, leading the church in worship, and providing leadership in these areas through music and worship. A bachelor's degree from a four-year university is required for this position, although a seminary or graduate degree is preferred. This educational requirement will be supplemented with two plus years of related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience, alongside appropriate theological and doctrinal perspectives.

The ideal candidate will have an upstanding character of integrity, self-assurance, and a high level of emotional intelligence, with strong skills to scale. Such key competencies will contribute to the successful execution of the following expectations within the first 24-months:

  • Give complete support to the vision and program of McGregor Baptist Church and coordinate all music activities with the total Church program.
  • Plan and organize the worship services for all regular and special worship celebrations.
  • Organize and administer complete intergenerational music ministry program withappropriate choirs, ensembles, and instrumental groups.
  • Commit to the study of His word and private prayer to seek His wisdom.
  • Serve as a spiritual leader for the church at large and specifically for everyone involved in music and worship ministries.
  • Organize all worship celebrations.
  • Provide pastoral care, counseling and hospital visitation as time allows.
  • Provide personal leadership for the Worship Choir in preparation and presentation of weekly worship.
  • Produce, direct and coordinate all major musical events.
  • Supervise the worship ministry team leadership—both paid and volunteer.
  • Recruit, supervise and train paid and volunteer music and worship leaders.
  • Prepare and administer annual music budget.
  • Coordinate all concert events for the Church and community.
  • Oversee Praise and Worship staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the MBC’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
