History & Current Status
The Passion movement was born when Louie Giglio started a weekly gathering at Baylor University. Louie had noticed a growing trend; “students who had grown up in the church were rejecting their faith during their University years.” Engaging in this window
of young adult life and inspiring students to change the trajectory of their lives was the eventual impetus and catalyst for Passion City Church.
After 10 years of incredible ministry at Baylor, Louie and Shelley Giglio responded to family needs and relocated back home to Atlanta. While leading a weekly study for college students and young working professionals called 7:22, Louie and Shelley founded the
Passion movement in 1997.
The Passion Team’s mission is to spread the fame of Jesus Christ to the 16+ million college students of the nation and countless others around the globe. During conference, hundreds of thousands of students gather in stadiums to worship and mobilize their
efforts for causes with global impact such as human trafficking and slavery.
In 2008, Louie felt called to plant a local community of faith impacted and informed by the same DNA of Passion. With a small team of people gathering in homes throughout Atlanta, Passion City Church began building this vision of planting its’ feet in the
heart of Atlanta.
On February 15th, 2009, Passion City Church had their first official gathering. After meeting in various locations throughout the city for two years, Passion City moved into its’ first permanent site in 2011 at 515 Garson Drive.
Worship & Ministry Paradigm
The rhythm of Passion City is to gather to worship and scatter to serve. They like to say that their worship is loud because God’s grace is beyond anything they can dream or imagine. When asked about the worship culture of Passion City, Louie Giglio spoke
about desiring an authenticity missing in the church today.
“We are looking for the simplicity of the body of Christ and the presence of God. We’re concerned about whether the presence of God is noticeable and active in our gathering because people don’t need an event, they don’t need a show. People don’t need
famous worship leadership. They need a life changing transaction with their Creator. Our church is a church where people have life-changing encounters with God. When you come to Passion City Church, you’ll know that we’re here to exalt God, to paint a picture
of him, to be people who are humbled before him, to express him to the city and to the world.”
Leadership & Culture
“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a door keeper [door holder] in the house of my God than dwell in the house of the wicked.” -Psalm 84:10
The culture of Passion City can be described by these two words; "door holder.” From Louie, to the staff, to the teams that welcome everyone into the parking lot, that culture of service levels the playing field and keeps everyone on their knees and humble
about their role and function. Door Holders are the heartbeat of Passion City Church. Door Holders are people who take great pleasure in opening the way for others to experience Jesus.
Every detail from design to communication is very intentional, done very well, and considered an opportunity to leverage the mission. Passion City’s ultimate goal is for people to meet Jesus and it is this idea that weaves itself through every aspect of
their building, culture and strategy.
Location & Demographic
“Passion City Church is rooted in a neighborhood on a 50/50 line in the midtown area of Atlanta, a city of close to six million people. The 50/50 terminology reflects that we are bordered by rich and poor, black, white and Latino, the best of the
best and the worst of the worst. In one direction, you find shimmering commerce and glitzy high-rise wonders. In the other, you pass the largest concentration of “adult businesses” in town. We gather in an abandoned retail space that was tagged with gang graffiti
when we found it, a “big-box” location directly adjacent to MARTA, Atlanta’s subway system. It’s not unsafe. Yet it’s not totally safe. It’s exposed, not insulated, the very cityscape itself providing a backdrop for everything we do.
For us, it’s a perfect place to gather, just the kind of neighborhood we wanted to call home. Already anchored in the text of Matthew 5:15, we were thrilled to land in the address of 515 Garson Drive. Now when we enter our building, we come in under
the huge numbers 515 above the door, reminding us that the Church does not exist to get people inside its walls, but rather to shine the message of grace, truth, and love into every corner of the city in which it exists.”
A vibrant urban community situated in the heart of Atlanta, Buckhead is a major financial and commercial center of the Southeast. Surrounding the high rise buildings and urban neighborhoods, Buckhead features single family homes and neighborhoods situated
among dense forests and rolling hills. Atlanta City’s population in 2010 was just under 500,000 people, however the Atlanta greater metropolitan area was listed at 5.45 million people in 2015. Atlanta’s diverse community is made up of 54 percent African American,
38 percent Caucasian, 5 percent Hispanic, and 3 percent Asian. The average sales price of homes in the Buckhead area was listed at $380,000.
Challenge & Opportunity
The opportunity at Passion City is to join a healthy staff where culture and fit will play just as much of a key role as technical ability and skill set.

Passion City is known for pushing the boundaries of what Production in the Church looks like. They will need a Lighting Director to come alongside Passion City’s Production Manager and be an extremely effective communicator, coordinator, and builder of teams.
The Lighting Director will need to be able to take concepts through design to implementation and build dynamic environments for worship.

and resolving issues. This person will help carry the standard of PCC lighting.
This is a position for someone who is a strong, proven leader, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who is creative and on the cutting edge of technology and innovation.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain all lighting systems to excellent, clean, neat, organized, updated, functioning states
- Ensure all programming basics are consistently updated and accurate
- Be knowledgeable of any updates to all relevant lighting equipment
- Maintain current drawings in detail of all Passion City Church lighting systems
- Strive for flawless and inspiring lighting experiences at Passion City Church
- Design and propose system upgrades and expansions
- Maintain and repair all lighting related equipment
- Lead set design and implementation for all environments
- Attend continuing education opportunities in regards to lighting (LDI)
- Develop your skill by regularly attending concerts and other live environments for inspiration
- Grow a team of Door Holders & contractors that are experts on lighting control and design
- Actively participate in the life of Passion City Church and the production team
- Serve at requested PCC & Passion events
A Day Might Look Like
Designing stage and scenic ideas for all environments, leading set builds, training a door holder, maintaining fixtures, programming for gatherings, organizing and cleaning storage, becoming an expert of visualization software, expanding knowledge of
lighting control, creating a lighting manual, running lights for gatherings & events, assisting with other production related projects.

Job Skills and Requirements
