The First Presbyterian Church of San Diego is seeking a Finance Manager to work with our ministry team in providing sound fiscal management for the ministries of our downtown, dynamic, evangelical church. Our ministries include weekly homeless
meals and bible studies, 170-student Christian School, three weekly services in styles of Jazz, contemporay and traditional styles, a year-round fine arts series, and much more. The position is full-time with benefits. Anticipated start time is early December

QUALIFICATIONS: TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A. Demonstrates a consistent and enthusiastic commitment to Jesus Christ
and supports the mission of the First Presbyterian Church.
B. Business education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent and
two years’ experience. An Associate’s Degree in accounting or equivalent and a
minimum of seven years’ experience
C. Experience: maintaining accounting records and performing routine
budget analysis for a non-profit organization or a small business.
D. Exhibits a willingness to relate well to staff and volunteers who share in
oversight and functions of the FPC ministry programs.
E. Knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable,
cash receipts, payroll and fund accounting procedures.
Understanding of accounting in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the
United States of America (“GAAP”), particularly as applied to not-for-profit organizations.
F. Demonstrates supervisory skills in working with full and part-time personnel and volunteers.
G. Proficient in use of common computer programs for financial accounting and reports, word processing, spreadsheets, data bases,on-line account and data management.
H. Communicates effectively with co-workers and users of financial reports.
I. Leadership experience in managing financial procedures and systems.
J. Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative.
K. Experience with Shelby Systems church management software is a plus.
A. Maintain the General Ledger.
B. Produce and distribute reports to appropriate staff members and session members.
C. Oversee payroll.
D. Process receipts and payments
E. Oversee balance sheet and investment portfolio entries
F. Process accounts payable
G. Prepare monthly financial reports various church committees and staff members
H. Assist in preparation of General budget and department budgets
I. Reconcile bank statements, supervise all bank transactions.
J. Manage daily computer system back-up.
K. Provide source materials for annual audits or financial reviews.
L. Maintain and archive accounting, payroll, vendor, contracting records and files.
M. Process accounts payable for goods and services used by City Tree Christian School.
N. Process tuition receipts and payments.
