Job Description: Pastor of Worship Arts and Young Adults

Position Summary:
Responsible for the Worship and Young Adults Ministries at a growing and innovative church, providing spiritual leadership through the gift of music and prayer, sharing the Word of God and the news of Jesus Christ with the congregation and community.  This candadite will use song, multimedia, visual and non-visual performances to encourage the congregation and the communities understanding of the love of Christ.

We are looking for a leader and person with a heart for ministry, one who mentors and disciples individuals, musicians, vocalists and all other creative arts volunteers including drama, video, sound and lighting.  This position reports directly to the Administrative Pastor and is part of a team that carries out the great commission in the way it is embodied at Sharon Baptist Church.  

Develop, grow and foster a young adults ministry, a ministry that is vibrant and dedicated to developing and strengthening the foundations of faith.  Commitment to being involved in the lives of individuals on and off the church campus is a must.

Candidate must be a high-energy, balanced, dynamic person who is passionate about creative and artistic ministries and people.  Candidate must be a leader first then an artist.  Candidate must have high integrity, a heart for worship, and understand the heart of the artist.  Candidate should be technically-minded, leadership-focused and able to work in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

General Pastoral Responsibilities
To have a pastoral relationship with all members and regular attendees, families, and individuals, and assist, at the Administrative Pastor’s discretion, in ministering to these persons in time of need.  
Eager to join and share Sharon Baptist Church’s desire to reach the church and unchurched.
To promote, educate, and advocate responsible biblical stewardship to the congregation.
Must have a calling for ministry not to simply have a job.
The ability to lead and make decisions with a team with a wide array of personalities.
Communicates a vision and passion for worship to the staff, congregation and worship team.
Develops goals and objectives for the worship and young adults ministry that fall in line with Sharon’s strategic plan.

Primary Worship Ministry Responsibilities: Starting Point
      A.  In collaboration with the Administrative Pastor, the Worship Pastor will develop ministry and outreach through worship.
      B.  Oversee all aspects of worship at Sharon Baptist Church including music and creative arts.
      C.  Plan, organize, and lead multiple worship experiences.
      D.  Assist with planning and execution of services, both present schedule and other experiences, including different formats and forms of musical and creative expression, which may include media and technical elements of all worship experiences.
      E.  Preparation for worship should, as much as possible, be completed before Sunday mornings so the Worship Pastor is available to minister to the people.
      F.  Continued development of gifts, skills and a heart of a life-long learner.
      G. Facilitate lighting, sound and presentation software, and be able to provide leadership for these production components.
      H. Be familiar and comfortable in all styles of worship music.
      I.  Assist children’s ministry with musical components within their large group meeting.
      J.  Assist our weekday preschool (Sharon Christian Academy) with any musicals, dramas, and other programs.

 Develop Worship & Creative Arts teams within the Church
      A. Work closely with the pastoral team to develop themes and integrate the various creative elements into a cohesive message that supports the sermon series and other vital areas of church life.
      B.  Recruit, train, equip, and encourage team members through mentoring and discipling and strive to include a wide variety of qualified musicians and vocalists in the worship ministry of the church.
      C.   Post chord and/or vocal charts, MP3s and other necessary elements in advance via Planning Center, in preparation for rehersals.
      D.  Maintain musical library to include digital & print music.
      E.  Coordinate and produce special events/concerts/productions.
      F.   Coordinate and provide leadership for children’s choir and youth band.
      G.  Community outreach including local elementary, middle school and high school band and musicians to collaborate with Sharon Baptist Church worship team.

IV.    Develop Young Adults Ministry
      A.  Plan/develop a ministry that reaches young adults (college thru 20’s).
      B.  Maintain a discipleship outreach that encourages growth of a disciple of Jesus Christ.
      C.  Plan and execute outings that foster cohesion, unity and growth in the individual.

      A.  Able to plan and budget for various ministries.
      B.  Ensure communication and coordination between the Worship and Technical Ministries.
      C.  Supervise/oversee maintenance and acquisition of music and technology equipment.
      D.  Participate in overall duties as part of a pastoral team (visitation, hospitals, funerals), including weekly staff meetings.
      E.  Supervise all worship ministry staff and volunteers.
      F.  Excellent communicator, both orally and written.

  Education, Experience, Abilities, Gifts
      A.  Is a growing believer in Jesus Christ and is motivated by the Holy Spirit.
      B.  Preferably 3 years-experience as a Worship Leader/Pastor.
      C.  College degree in Music, an accomplished musician with the ability to read music and have some experience in managing people.
      E.  Experience in utilizing social media for use in Worship and Young Adult ministries.
      F.  A dynamic personality that is positive, friendly, socially inclusive and works well in a team environment.
      G.  Exhibit pastoral presence on the platform as well as in daily life, with an ability to engage the heart of the people through music and words.
      H.  Experience with ProPresenter, Aviom systems and Ableton (or comperable program).
