Job Description:

Christ Church has a rich history of a shared vision, shared work, and warm fellowship. It is a multi-site campus, with the main facility located in Lake Forest, IL.

When the church founders gathered in January 1980, they shared a lofty vision—to be a light for Christ in their community. They dreamed of a non-denominational, congregational church, a “family of families, knit together to exhibit and extend Christ’s Kingdom.” Today, they are a staff led church with an elder and deacon board. The elder board provides spiritual oversight while the deacon board provides oversight for finance and facilities.

As a chief communications strategist, the Director of Marketing & Communications will provide strategic oversight for church-wide communications, media, and marketing. They will oversee and implement the church’s brand messaging, and ensure the accuracy of its delivery, by producing each element with creativity and consistency. The successful candidate for this role will be an expert at capturing the life changing stories happening within the lives of Christ Church attendees and in creating multiple mediums to communicate such stories. This individual will collaborate with the church Department Heads and Ministry Leads to develop a comprehensive communications strategy. He/she will additionally serve as the primary media spokesperson for Christ Church and its constituents.

The Director of Marketing & Communications will be exclusively responsible for all communication components relating to the following, across all campuses:

(1) Weekend/weekday programming
(2) Public relations
(3) Content creation/dispersion
(4) Digital marketing
(5) Social media management
(6) Electronic newsletters
(7) Print materials

The successful candidate for this position will have a proven track record and experience in internal/external communication, marketing, advertising, media, and public relations in either a business, church, non-profit, para-church, or similar setting. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in team building, creative thinking, systems management, and creative problem solving. Exceptional technical skills in written and oral communication are imperative for this role, while graphic design, web, and multimedia experience are highly desirable qualifications.
