Maryland Community Church (MCC) is ranked #82 of 100 fastest growing churches in the United States, per Outreach Magazine.


They are a growing church with a mission and vision to move thousands of people in their community, nation, and world one step closer to Christ. They have a unique culture as a community of people who follow Christ and serve in his cause. They are a growing, non-denominational congregation of 1,700 in weekly attendance. While progressive in ministry, MCC is grounded in its theology.


The Discipleship Pastor will serve the church by creating discipleship ministry goals and strategies, followed by (1) forming, (2) leading, and (3) coaching teams in order to strategically meet goals. They will have a constant and a consistent devotional life, including a strong sense of leadership, with necessary skills to scale. They will be responsible for steering the leadership, vision, and strategy of a growing small groups ministry at the church. 


Additionally, they will be responsible for:


  • Communicating the vision of discipleship in all settings.
  • Communicating MCC’s annual calendar of Discipleship Life, and manage the ministry to increase participation and commitment to Discipleship.
  • Building an effective team of coaches and leaders that are committed to the overall philosophy of discipleship at MCC.
  • Equipping and developing the Discipleship leaders to strengthen the mission of MCC through equipping them with practical ways to connect and reach the unchurched community.
  • Helping all ministries integrate a sustaining discipleship philosophy.
  • Actively participate in the life of MCC and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with the staff and leadership of the church.

Success in this position will be based upon an increased faith walk among believers, active small group based testimony sharing in the form of evangelism, recognizable spiritual advancement among individuals, and a stronger outreach effort characterized by discipleship growth in the church. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry or similar field, preferably with five years of full-time ministry leadership experience. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unreached with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. Proven experience in creative thinking, problem solving, and collaborative leadership in a fast-paced innovative environment is strongly preferred.  


Terre Haute, Indiana, borders the I-70 and serves as the gateway to the state. In the heart of the Midwest, Terre Haute exuberantly enjoys all seasons of the year. This family oriented environment, where outdoor activities abound, boasts a vibrant median age of 33 years old.
