Job Description:

First Baptist Church (FBC) is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastoral position with the title of Pastor of Student Ministries. This position will assume pastoral responsibility over the entire 7th-12th grade ministries of FBC with a primary focus on Senior High ministries. FBC currently employs a Junior High Director who has been given responsibility for the execution of ministries for 7th and 8th grade students. The Pastor of Student Ministries will provide the necessary servant leadership to the Junior High ministries and director with the aim of enhancing the excellent work that is already taking place as well as being the primary leader for senior high students. Pastor of Student Ministries

First Baptist Church (FBC)



  • Pursuing God through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated through acts of love towards others according to the scriptures.
  • Called by God to vocational ministry and gifted in the specific areas of ministry needs for FBC as outlined below.
  • Has appropriate training, experience and skills to teach, pastor and lead the student ministries (7th - 12th grade) for the FBC community.


  • The Pastor of Student Ministries will be primarily responsible for providing the pastoral oversight of the Jr. and Sr. high ministries by 1) being the primary leader and director of Sr. High ministries of FBC and 2) by guiding, encouraging and supporting the Jr. High Director in the execution of Jr. High ministries.

    • Sr. High Ministries

      • Lead and organize all ministry to Sr. High students. This would include ministry on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings and special events and activities that contribute to the spiritual formation of Sr. high students.

      • A volunteer team being essential to the effectiveness of Sr. high ministries, the Pastor of Student ministries will be expected to form, train and implement a team of volunteers to care and teach Sr. high students with him.

      • As Sr. high students are eager and able, to invite students into deeper paths of discipleship in honor to Jesus Christ and for the good of the students and the ministry.

      • To be intentional in discipling students to reach out to peers and include activities and/or events that are focused on reaching out to unchurched students in the Taylor County area.

    • Jr. High Ministries

      • Provide servant-leadership so as to enhance the Jr. high ministries in a pastoral capacity

      • To encourage and support the Jr. High director in her ministry roles through agreed-on participation, words of encouragement and practical helps.

      • To help and participate in an area of Jr. high ministries to encourage Jr. high students and build relationships with them.

  • Participate in general pastoral duties to help the overall ministries of FBC as assigned by the Lead Pastor


  • All pastors are responsible to the Deacon Board of FBC as the governing board of the church and are to submit to the Lead Pastor as supervisor of all staff as assigned by the board.

  • Work with all pastors as a team contributing input and receiving critique for the overall health and direction of the church. Work with all FBC volunteer and paid staff in a collegial way so as to encourage a safe, warm and effective working environment.

  • Work with the Jr. High Director as a co-laborer in the youth ministries of FBC respecting her role as Jr. high director and providing servant and pastoral leadership to the entire student ministries.
