Oakhill Baptist Church is a vibrant, growing, multi-generational, multi-staff church. Its vision is to outwardly focus on the lost, and inwardly invest in the church family by meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of those within their sphere of influence. The mission of Oakhill Baptist Church is to see people’s lives change radically by entering into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and then continue the life-change process as they Worship, Grow, Serve, and Give.

Oakhill Baptist Church seeks a spiritually mature and experienced Worship Pastor to lead the Worship Arts Ministry. The primary function of this role will be to promote and implement the vision and values of the church as it relates to making disciples and enhancing worship gatherings. The successful Worship Pastor will use the various elements of worship to bring the congregation into God’s presence, and encourage and guide worshippers. The ideal candidate will have proven experience assembling a team of men, women and young people who will use the worship arts to creatively proclaim the gospel, thereby making disciples and bringing glory to God. This prospect will hold a bachelor's degree in a related field such as Music or Worship, with 3-5 years of experience leading worship in both traditional and contemporary settings. A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Music/Worship is a preferable requirement for this position.

They will seek to successfully achieve the following goals within 24-months of his/her position as Worship Pastor.

  • Plan, develop and oversee all elements of the worship service in conjunction with the Lead Pastor and other appropriate church staff.
  • Lead, recruit, and develop a group of people who give creative input to the elements of worship experiences; including, but not limited to, visual set designs, sermon series, graphics, and publications.
  • Lead, recruit, develop, train and oversee worship teams. Do the same in regard to occasional contributors such as ensembles, choirs, visual arts teams, solos and other special music.
  • Oversee and coordinate appropriate rehearsals for music teams, visual arts teams, and any other occasional worship teams, with the ongoing goal of increasing artistic excellence in worship.
  • Provide leadership for rehearsals throughout the week and during the morning worship experiences.
  • Introduce new music to the congregation on a regular basis.
  • Vary the selections of songs, music, instrumentations, readings, prayers and other worship elements in order to take advantage of the best of both ancient and modern expressions of worship.
  • Lead, recruit, train and oversee the First Impressions team which concerns itself with the overall worship experience on Sunday mornings.
  • Secure all necessary supplies, resources, and equipment needed for worship gatherings.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and coordinate worship ministries with all other ministries.
  • Support worship ministries in other areas of the church where needed, such as the Children’s Choirs and Student Ministries.
  • Pursue personal, spiritual, and professional growth through conferences, seminars, classes and workshops. Involve key volunteer leaders in appropriate seminars and workshops in order to encourage and develop their gifts for ministry.
  • Maintain consistent office hours.  It is recognized that ministry responsibilities may dictate compensatory time and schedule adjustments.
  • Determine equipment and program needs, develop an annual budget, and provide this information to the Finance Committee for review and approval by the Session.
  • Undergo regular staff evaluation with the Lead Pastor.
  • Attend an annual staff and leadership retreat.
  • Provide pastoral leadership through prayer ministry/counseling, hospital visits as needed, and relational ministry on weekends around campus.
