OPPORTUNITY:

Eastside Christian Church is looking for a strategic communications director who has an attention to detail, can write, and manage channels. This position will be a critical partner in improving both the internal and external audience’s experience of the Eastside brand.  From helping ministries better communicate with their leaders to thinking about external awareness campaigns - this role will have broad influence and reach within the organization. 

 

Chris Loope recently joined the Eastside Senior Staff to provide oversight to their brand, weekend experience, and communication strategy.  Chris is a visionary leader with a background in creative design, video, and digital strategy.  With a few months under his belt at Eastside, Chris is ready to build the team he needs to move Eastside to the next level. In order for Chris to lead at a higher altitude, a strong partner is needed with competency and skill in communications strategy and management.  Leading a diverse team of staff, contractors, and volunteers, this position will ensure creative services and distribution channels are well managed and operate within brand standards.  

 

CHURCH BACKGROUND:

Beginning as a house church in Fullerton 1962, Eastside Christian Church (ECC) has always been about pursuing God, building community, and missional outreach both locally and globally. Senior Pastor, Gene Appel has grown this vision exponentially since he arrived nearly six years ago from Willow Creek (he is ECC’s fourth Senior Pastor).

 

An entirely new culture and worship style has been established over the past 5 years under Gene’s leadership and that of Weekend Experience Director Jill Gille which has been a significant part of the rapid growth and development of the congregation from what had become an in-grown aging and declining church to one that is focused on reaching unchurched and de-churched young families. Having outgrown their nearly fifty year old church home in Fullerton, ECC purchased a former Boeing Aerospace site in Anaheim, and after an impressive re-purposing, moved onto this (125,000 ft.) campus with room to expand in 2012.

 

MINISTRY & CULTURE:

Over 5000 people currently gather for worship four times a weekend in their eighteen hundred hundred seat auditorium at 5pm on Saturdays, 9am, 11:15AM and a Spanish service at 2PM on Sundays. Quality and creative adult, student and children’s ministry are an important part of the weekend experience and provide not only the opportunity for extra growth, but also to develop and maintain a strong relational network, which is clearly evident in the lives of all who call ECC their home.

 

Strong, strategic, passionate and focused leadership defines this church. They are clearly about kingdom impact in their region, and rapid growth is the result. Gene is a vision caster who is incredibly supportive of his pastoral team, and understands the value of trusting his leadership but also knows when to weigh in at ground level if needed. He is always looking to see how things can grow and improve, while keeping the staff and volunteers at a sustainable pace. 

 

Eastside is Staff led and Elder protected through the Logic-board policy governance model and it is clear that everyone is reading from the same playbook. They have a big vision and having the right leaders sitting at the table is a high priority and illustrated by the quality of their exec level team. There is healthy freedom to try new initiatives, be creative and a great culture of communication, celebration, critique, and review.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Membership and active participation with Eastside.
  • 5+ years marcom experience in an agency, company, and/or ministry. 
  • Strong understanding of all communication and marketting channels, including print, digital, PR, etc.
  • Keen awarness of current and emerging design trends. 
  • Rich understanding of digital and social media trends and strategies.   

 

SALARY RANGE:

  • $65K - $80K+ (based on experience and skill)
