Job Description:

History:

Ingleside Baptist Church was born on October 4, 1951, as sixteen people?gathered in a home to discuss the idea of starting a new church in the growing?North Macon area. By the end of the month 75 people were gathering in the?Ingleside Community Clubhouse. By Christmas of that same year it was official.?203 charter members signed the Charter Member Scroll on December 23, 1951.?For several decades, Ingleside was a traditional Baptist church. Missions, ?evangelism, Sunday School, age-graded choirs and dinner on the grounds were?all time-honored staples.

For the first thirty years, Ingleside grew to over 1,500 in?membership. Since September 4, 1989, Pastor Tim McCoy has led this thriving?church into a new generation of vision and growth. Over the past twenty five?years there have been two additional services added, many new buildings?constructed or renovated and the drafting of a newly defined purpose statement: To adore God, bring people to Jesus, call believers to membership, develop members to maturity, and equip them for ministry.

Current Status:

Beautifully nestled on a lush, green campus of rolling hills and mature trees, Ingleside’s property reveals a church community that cares about the stewardship of all that God has provided. Ingleside is serious about being true to the Bible, while at the same time remaining grounded in understanding real life issues of the 21st century.

The people are genuine at every level and are dedicated to service. Their expansive ministry is a result of people committed to finding their ministry fit and serving with relentless dedication. Expectations and standards are high, consistent with the culture established and modeled by this proficient staff. The church has currently grown to be the home of over 4,300 members with just over 2,000 adults in attendance during its weekend services.

With the goal of three distinct styles in four services, Ingleside is strategically poised to launch their new Contemporary Band-Driven Worship Service as soon as God supplies the right leader. Leadership is committed to expanding and moving forward with its music and arts ministry, with a newly infused worship environment that was set in place by renowned tech team, Clark AV of Atlanta. Its 21st century mind set, state of the art venue, and highly capable Worship Arts staff, is poised for catalytic breakthroughs once God provides the person for this key new worship leadership role.

Recently, Ingleside put new handles around their disciple making process by communicating that a disciple should Come, Grow, Serve, and Go - that is, Come to worship, Grow in a group, Serve in the body, and Go with the gospel. Every area of Ingleside ministry aligns itself with this simple process and even the website and church logo reflect this language and strategy.

Location/Demographic:

Macon, a town full of southern charm and antebellum architecture, is the home to about 150,000 people. Because of its rich history, dating all the way back to Native American civilizations, Macon is continually mentioned as a cultural epicenter for Georgia. It is a town that loves food, sports, and music and is in the throes of a very intentional revitalization. Located about an hour south of Atlanta, Macon helps make up the heart of Central Georgia.

Slightly southeast of the center of the state, it is located between Metro Atlanta, Augusta and Savannah and is filled with a rich cultural heritage of music and literature with bountiful agriculture, landmarks of the past, and a calendar filled with a variety of entertaining festivals. It also features the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame as well as several museums and cultural arts centers.

Leadership:

For the past twenty-five years, Tim McCoy has served as Senior Pastor at Ingleside. The visionary leadership of Pastor Tim has brought this family-centered church community through the past quarter century with intentionality and determination to see the Gospel proclaimed, and the people of God empowered for living for Him. With each change, God has infused in the people at Ingleside a renewed desire to press on to the high calling of Jesus Christ.

Andy Johnson, the Next Generation Team Leader, is a friendly,?relatable, spiritually-minded leader. The High School Pastor will have weekly interaction with Andy, so it is important that they have an open working relationship and that Andy has the permission to push those he leads to think strategically and move through challenges with wisdom and passion in their ministry.

Student Ministry Approach:

Ingleside’s weekly programming begins with a Sunday morning Bible study for grades, 9, 10, and 11/12. Sunday evening features a large group worship experience with worship, games/mixers, and a student friendly message. Small groups are available on Sunday evening (before the worship service) or Wednesday evenings. All of the above take place in the terrific student building known as “Across the Street” (since it’s across the street from the church). ATS is a remodeled supermarket featuring classrooms, large group space for worship and games, cafe, and “booth-style-seating” with a ping pong table nearby.

Ingleside also does a terrific job with its events, inviting students to “come and play,” providing a safe place for students to get to know the ministry and ministry leaders to get to know students. The High School ministry has a healthy annual budget of over $50K.

Finally, Ingleside is about to launch a new “Church and Home” initiative to give them the best opportunity to lead families toward a legacy of faith. Church and Home is a cradle to college discipleship plan for families featuring life stage specific workshops, events, resources and practical at home spiritual leadership ideas, and is principally driven by the Next Generation Team.

Challenge and Opportunity:

Ingleside Baptist Church is fertile ground for a young, highly talented, leader. If you have a heart for evangelism and enjoy working hard with a “team first” mindset, Ingleside will be a great fit.

The High School ministry’s biggest challenge now is identifying the best schedule/strategy to achieve their goals and fulfill the church’s mission. However, this is also a terrific opportunity for the new High School pastor to engage in this conversation and provide energy and vision toward this goal.

Ingleside has done a terrific job identifying a spiritual growth track for disciplemaking, but they are eager to reawaken the evangelistic spirit that birthed the church. The current staff is excited and ready to do whatever it takes, and the new High School pastor will need that same evangelistic mindset and passion.
