Job Description:

Position Title: Worship Pastor
Position Reports to: Executive Pastor
Position Objective: To provide pastoral leadership to select ministries which seek to disciple adults and youth toward a lifestyle of ongoing worship and personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Explanation of Position Objective:
A) “To provide pastoral leadership”: The primary aim of this phrase is two-fold. First, it is expected that the person who fills this position is first and foremost a pastor/shepherd of God’s flock. In that, he should be recognized by the church as having the characteristics of an Elder in the church (I Timothy 3, Titus 1). The task at hand is primarily pastoral in nature and thus requires personal commitments to spiritual growth as well as the professional ability to guide others toward spiritual vibrancy and protection. However, the task is not simply pastoral. This position requires a pastoral leader. In affirming this statement, this person should be gifted and committed to providing direction, vision and accountability to others under their leadership. The ability to cast vision, help others develop and implement practical goals and objectives, and the commitment to hold personnel and programs to stated levels of accountability are vital in this role of leadership (Ephesians 4:12).

B) “to select ministries which seek to disciple adults and youth toward a lifestyle of ongoing worship and personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord”: These ministries include high-impact adult and youth worship ministries. Each of these ministries should have elements that specifically and measurably move persons to commitments, convictions and actions that demonstrate an ongoing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a sound understanding and display of worship in their daily lives, and a commitment to the faith family at Harvest.
