Program Philosophy and Religious Orientation:  The Preschool operates as a ministry of the Church. It is a full day, weekday only program but does not operate in the summer. We are a religious based school and teach basic Christianity to our students.  Even though the denominations of the teachers vary, each class maintains a prayer time, songs, devotions and chapel for the children, which supports the Bible and Christianity. The Director is expected to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. He or she will be a spiritual leader among the staff and Church children’s teachers.

Management Duties:  The Director is considered part of the Church staff, attends staff meetings, and reports directly to the Pastor of the Church. He/she trains and supervises all preschool staff.  The Director also makes the work schedule and ensures guidelines for ratios of staff to student are met, safety and security standards are maintained and school/parent communication lines are open.  In all duties, maintaining the children’s health and well-being while at school is the Director’s first and foremost consideration.

Instructional Duties:  The Director is responsible for overseeing the curriculum used in the school.  This means developing or reviewing teachers’ lesson plans, or choosing curriculum to be implemented school -wide.  The Director may provide in-house trainings for the staff. He or she may also fill in for a teacher or assistant when a substitute is not available.

Communicating with Parents: The Director is a family’s first contact with the school.  He/she will meet with parents to introduce the preschool to them and explain the school’s program philosophy, policies, fees, regulations and curriculum.  The Director deals with parental concerns and questions and is responsible for conveying any policy changes to parents.  He/she creates and sends out a monthly newsletter to all families in the school.  He/she also speaks to parents about behavioral concerns, injuries or other incidents that occur during the school day.  With the help of the Church board, the Director also oversees the bills and collection of payment for services.

Compliance Duties:  The Director is responsible for ensuring that the school is in full compliance with all licensing and safety regulation.

Staff Meetings:  Preschool staff meeting is held once per week. Church staff meeting is held once per week. The Director participates in and/or leads these meetings with respect to preschool matters.
