Job Description:

The Communications Coordinator position exists to create and direct all print and web based imaging and communications for Covenant UMC. This includes the professional execution of all internal and external marketing materials including publications, web, social media, church app and signage. This position is responsible for maintaining consistency at every level according to Covenant’s style guidelines.

The Communications Coordinator position is unique in that it requires strong competencies in both graphic design and the management of organizational communications and marketing. It is anticipated that there is an approximate 50/50 split in time and focus between the creation of graphic design assets and the management of internal and external communication and promotion.

A person who thrives in this role is able to maintain a balance between the creative eye necessary for compelling visual imagery and the strategic and logistical oversight needed to manage the workflow, timelines and other dynamics for marketing and communication campaigns. - Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, communications, marketing or a related field - Minimum of 2 years experience in a design or marketing position - Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office products, web design and content management, all social media channels, and digital signage. Competency in both PC and Mac platforms - Strong understanding of graphic design essentials, including composition, unity, need for information, layout, call to action, etc. - Detail oriented, with strong written language skills - Ability to clearly communicate with staff members, lay leaders, and vendors to meet ministry goals - Positive, patient, friendly and professional attitude and demeanor - Ability to anticipate needs without oversight and focus on tasks at hand - Proven ability to carry out projects from concept to completion - Must agree with and represent Covenant’s Statement of Faith and Mission.


- Project management for church wide and department specific marketing and communication campaigns - Brainstorm and mock up spec design concepts in coordination with lay and staff leaders - Develop graphics and layout for all print imaging and communications (including bulletin, web, signage and social media) - Work with printers, programmers, developers or other technicians (in house and outsourced) to complete the final product - Create and manage appropriate systems and processes for the successful execution of print projects - Works with all ministry areas in production of brochures, mailers, t-shirt designs, signage and other marketing/promotional items as needed.     - Develop copy for communications pieces (in cooperation with Director of Media Ministry and ministry leaders) - Function as the church’s webmaster (website is currently on a Ekklesia 360 platform) - Manage and/or develop the church’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) - Act as one of the primary advocates for church brand and maintain consistency across all channels - Cultivate a team of volunteers from within the church and use their gifts to help further the mission and efforts of the Communications department - Program and monitor outside digital sign with upcoming events and announcements. - Other duties as requested by direct supervisor and Senior Pastor.
