Children’s Minister at First Baptist Church Alma Job Description
First Baptist Church of Alma was reorganized and established in May 1984 when Clear Creek Baptist and a dying current First Baptist Church were merged and reorganized. Our mission is to turn every attender into a fully devoted follower of Christ.
We encourage believers not just to meet Christ, but to grow in their faith, live obediently by His commands, and be conformed to His character.
There have been many accomplishments in the forms of building additions, and remodels including the establishment of our Home of Hope to help families in crisis in 1999. We are a missionary minded church here both in our community and abroad as well. Our
Christmas is For Caring program, giving local families groceries and toys, has been in existence for 28 years. We have supported and helped start churches in Mexico, India, South Dakota, Canada, Jamaica, Alaska, Haiti, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and
Africa. We also support several missionaries in their endeavors to spread the Gospel. We actively participate in Disaster Relief also.
Our vision is to be a Biblically functioning community of believers so that God’s redemptive purpose can be accomplished in the World starting here with our own community. We show the community God’s love through our FBC Loves Alma Ministry.
We are in search of a Children’s Minister to continue and grow our current children’s programs in our new 5,000 square foot building. The new minister will present the Word to the children in a fun, safe and exciting manner. They will be responsible for
recruiting more children, growing their faith, setting a good role model, and building lasting relationships with them.
Candidate would work closely with Senior and Associate Pastors in planning, maintaining, and enhancing church life. Day to day tasks would include planning and executing events and services for the children’s program, building relationships with students
and their families, and recruiting, training and leading a volunteer team to help with the children. We would encourage the new Minister to
Spend at least 15 percent of his day creating new ideas for the program.
The new Minister’s schedule will be somewhat changing from week to week depending on church and children’s events and other duties. Candidate will need to be flexible and available. Staff currently takes one day off during the week since a lot
of activities happen on the weekend.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing, and able to take initiative and be a leader. They should have at least five years of Ministry experience and have completed or be in the process of attaining their education. Candidate will need to be a good
fit for our church culture as well.
Our church has a pretty diverse age range and we are looking to attract young families and couples. We would prefer the candidate to relate well to this demographic. The position could possibly morph into a Children’s/Family Pastor.
If you enjoy multi-tasking, flexibility, conquering new challenges, demonstrating leadership by leading (not ordering), you will enjoy working on our team. However, if you are someone who likes a cut and dried job description, likes to work alone all of
the time, and always completes his checklist and punches out, this position would not be suitable for you.
Our church is located in a smaller town in Alma, Arkansas. The population is five thousand, five hundred and twenty three. Alma is renowned for it’s school system and it’s sense of community. We enjoy the small town life, but have many conveniences of bigger
cities. It is a great place to raise a family.
The Performing Arts Center brings a lot of great opportunities for the art minded families and plays host to many school activities as well. It houses drama and dance classes to our high school students. Alma has a top of the line football stadium, and basketball
arena as well. If you enjoy nature, there are several hiking trails, a walking track and a city park centrally located. There is also an Aquatic Park for enjoyment during the summer months. Alma has a wide variety of restaurants and shopping opportunities,
and is located just miles from Fort Smith and Fayetteville.
