Job Description:

Grace Christian Fellowship in Ada, OK is a Non-Denominational** church that is seeking a full-time Pastor of Student Ministries.  This position includes fulfilling the role of youth pastor and providing oversight to college ministry.   You can’t take yourself completely serious if you are going to be a student pastor because let’s face it, most parents won’t take you seriously either.  Ada isn’t exactly New York City, but there is a large demographic of unreached, unchurched adults and students that need to meet Jesus, turn from their sin and live for him-we need your help in accomplishing that (a love for the University of Oklahoma football program helps too…).

We are a growing church that is expanding into full-time staff positions and we have reached a point where we feel a full-time Student Pastor is necessary to fulfill the requirements for the position.  We don’t want you here to be the punch line of every joke or to overwork and underpay you-student ministry is critically important and we recognize that; you should too.  Any applicant must be able to demonstrate evidence of these three things in your life: a love for Jesus, a love for students, the ability to have fun.

-Possess a mature but growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord with demonstrated fruit

-ENJOY working with students (if you don’t, you should not apply)

-Be CALLED to ministry-this is not just a job or a stepping-stone to something else (if you don’t understand this, you should not apply)

-Demonstrate a love for God and a love for young people

-Possess good communication skills, both written and oral

-Demonstrate an ability to relate well with students and their parents

-Demonstrate an ability to lead a group meeting, discussion or activity

-Demonstrate a good understanding of sound biblical knowledge and application

-Be committed to the concept of team ministry with both paid and volunteer staff

-Be committed to the vision and purpose of Grace Christian Fellowship

-Be willing to ask questions of others and yourself; be a learner

-Be willing to serve and submit to church leadership

-The ability to minister within the parameters of our Statement of Beliefs (graceada.com/new    click on What do you believe?)

-Adhere to regular office hours during the week from 9am-1pm (Mon-Thu or Tue-Fri) [it is implied that shorter office hours require focus on specific tasks and that you will devote whatever time is needed in order to accomplish them; these hours reflect a compensation for time spent on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, as well as events attended on the weekend, though further compensation of time is always negotiable]

-Prepare and deliver sermons on a regular basis (weekly) that reveal doctrinal truths from Scripture and lead people to experience their faith as they apply those truths and facilitate small group discussions via lay leadership

-During the lunch hour one should eat lunch with students at local schools as often as possible (transportation in a church vehicle and cost reimbursed or taken care of by the church)

-Attend after school events and practices to support our students

-Visit students at school and school sponsored events when possible

-Participate in weekly staff meetings for support, encouragement and accountability

-Develop a ministry plan each quarter to be discussed one month prior to new quarter beginning

-Develop and sustain personal relationships with students (and their parents/guardians as applicable) in a professional manner

-Recruit and develop adult volunteer leaders

-Develop student leadership

-Plan annual youth camp (summer) and retreat (overnight fall)

-Coordinate local and foreign mission trips for students

-Coordinate events for students with a focus on fellowship (Six Flags, etc)

-Maintain good communication with students, parents, and the whole church family regarding student ministry needs and opportunities

-Cast vision for the student ministry yearly that is nested in the vision of the church

Two years serving in student ministry (paid or volunteer capacity)

Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year university (Bible college preferred)

Though we are ready to hire someone immediately, we will advertise the position until it is filled by the right candidate.  Initially, we will accept resumes for 30 days and notify you once we have received yours.  If selected, you will proceed with the application process which will initially include a job application, a short essay on “Why you wish to be the Pastor of Student Ministries at Grace” and a photo of yourself and your family.  All candidates will be notified and kept informed of their progress.

Starting salary for this position is $36,000.
