The Student Pastor at Renaissance church must love spending time with teenagers in informal settings and also be able to plan and lead in group settings for both middle and high school students. The candidate must be able to build relationships with students
from both Christian homes and those far from God.
Our students are extremely busy with sports, music and other extracurricular activities. The culture places a premium on education at the middle and high school levels and many students are laser focused on getting into a high level college from a young
age. Students are rarely available to meet during the week but always appreciate when the student pastor shows up for a game, concert or play. Although a high percentage of the middle school students who attend Renaissance attend our “Elevate” Sunday morning
gatherings, many fewer high school students are involved. Parents are very child focused so serving our students and winning the hearts of our teens is a great entry point for families into the church.
Must have 2-3 years of experience as a student pastor
Prefer a Master’s degree but a BA/BS with significant Biblical training may be acceptable.
Must be comfortable dealing with our highly competent parents and students. Must be able to write college recommendations for high-level colleges.
Must be able to recruit and train volunteers to help in the program.
Must enjoy building a relationship based program rather than an activity based program, pursuing students who are not currently involved.
Must be flexible with work schedule to conform to the extraordinarily busy lifestyle of our students.

Renaissance is a non-denominational church located in suburban Summit, New Jersey, 25 miles outside of New York City. We are committed to reaching our non-believing friends and neighbors for Christ and to raising up disciples who can effectively share Christ’s
love. Renaissance meets in the historic Summit Opera House, conveniently located in the heart of downtown Summit, which is home to many local shops and restaurants. This area is filled with well-educated couples who are focused on raising families and want
the very best for their children’s academic and extracurricular development. These driven, high-capacity people typically commute into the City and occupy jobs in finance, law, and the arts. Many identify themselves as Roman Catholic, mainline Protestant,
or Jewish; but their “faith” is typically more cultural than living and personal. Our events, seminars, concerts, and weekend services are designed to be accepting, non-judgmental, and inviting to people of all degrees of faith, while confidently presenting
the Biblical truths of the gospel.
Our culture is uniquely demanding and our congregants expect individual attention so our ministry emphasizes personal relationships. More than thirty percent of our people participate in small groups. Roughly 40% of our people do not yet know Christ. We
are committed to continually reevaluating and pursuing ways to connect with people who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. We are also seeking to provide more opportunities to those who are eager to learn and grow spiritually.
The people of our community are used to excellence, and so we endeavor to execute all elements of our ministries with the highest level of quality and integrity. The interior of the Opera House has been restored and renovated to provide a unique and inviting
atmosphere with the goal of breaking down and minimizing cultural barriers. This is a key tool in attracting discerning, highly-intelligent, spiritually curious people whose attention is not easily gained. Our band is comprised of professional and accomplished
musicians who work hard in their own musical careers. Our ministries for children and students emphasize a high degree of personal interaction and teaching.
