History & Current Status
Preston Trail began fourteen years ago by friends, Paul Basden and Jim Johnson, as they were both serving in the Southeast. Both attended Baylor University and felt called back to the same city of Frisco, in Texas. With no support, no congregation, and
no guarantees, they took a leap of faith and relocated their families. At the time, Frisco was a small town of 35,000, and Preston Trail gathered for many years in an old AMC movie theatre. The early days of Preston Trail focused on youth ministry and creating
a welcoming space where the "appearance of a perfect life" was not a prerequisite for attending church. Now these goals have become two of Preston Trail’s guiding values.
Today, Frisco has a population of 155,000 people and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Through their active and intentional involvement in the community, Preston Trail has grown in tandem with the city it serves, hosting 4,000+ in weekly
worship. In response to this growth, Preston Trail recently moved into their new state-of-the-art facility (that has won design and architecture awards).
From the very beginning Preston Trail’s mission of “Helping people find and follow Jesus Christ” has remained the same and today they are just as committed to creating a church experience that is welcoming to anyone who walks through their doors.
Worship & Ministry Paradigm
Worship Pastor Warren Jacobs leads a talented team passionate about creating authentic worship experiences. Stylistically, Preston Trail is similar to Hillsong and Jesus Culture, yet can comfortably move into hymns and traditional songs when helpful and
appropriate. Their worship paradigm is less focused on style or song choice, and more concerned with storytelling and facilitating powerful moments to engage with God. The worship and production teams are clearly passionate, driven, healthy, and having loads
The leadership of Preston Trail want a staff culture that not only does ministry together, but does life together. This culture has resulted in a creative team willing to take risks, work hard, yet sustain personal health and work/life balance. Every week
the staff are intentional about developing their volunteers and finding new places for them to plug-in and successfully serve, resulting in a leadership culture that has staff and volunteers working shoulder to shoulder.
Leadership & Culture
Both Senior Pastors (Jim Johnson - R and Paul Basden - L) spend equal time teaching from the platform and have built a staff culture that reflects their partnership, humility, and integrity. Leading by example, they regularly build each other up and model
mutual dependence and shared vision, mitigating silos and other common church staff dysfunction. They both believe regularly express that their leadership is better as a team than as individuals.
Staff are encouraged to work outside of their traditional job parameters when appropriate opportunities become available. Techs are often given the opportunity to contribute creative input and to be entrepreneurial and build better systems and processes.
The Senior Leadership team own their mistakes and give feedback with candor and love, resulting in a staff not driven by fear, but given permission to take risks.
Location & Demographic
Frisco is small but rapidly growing city within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, located 25 miles North of Dallas. With a population of 155,000, Frisco is predominantly made up of young families and working professionals with a median household income of
$108,000. Frisco is a fairly diverse community, with 70 percent Caucasian, 12 percent Hispanic, 10 percent Asian, and 8 percent African American. In 2011, CNN listed Frisco as one of the "Best Places to Live" in the nation, and Forbes ranked it 7th in its
list of "America's 25 Best Places To Move”.
Challenge & Opportunity
The opportunity at Preston Trail is to join a healthy staff and maintain a state of the art facility. The challenge will be keeping up with a fast-growing church that is very active. Preston Trail is currently looking at different strategies and models
that will best serve their growing congregation but will need someone with a high degree of production-technology experience to guide and steward their resources and stay solution oriented as they plan the next three to five years. With the desire firmly
in place to replicate their experience in other venues, Preston Trail will need someone who has a strong track record for building effective and sustainable production systems and an even greater ability to build healthy teams.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Preston Trail is looking for a highly skilled Technical Director to oversee their tech arts ministry. Expertise in digital audio production, concert lighting, stage & scenic design, and live video production is required. This is a position for someone
who is a strong, proven leader, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, who is creative and on the cutting edge of technology and innovation. Experience with multi-site churches and broadcast video delivery is required.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
• Oversee the Production Teams and Systems that execute Sunday Services and Events.
• Proactively consider how to best use technology for the church and maximize department resources.
• Support campus venues including Preston Trail’s online experience.
• Lead, recruit, train, and mentor technical staff, interns and volunteer teams.
• Help plan the elements and flow of the worship service each week in relation to creative elements.
• Participate in the planning and execution of worship moments using technology as a vehicle for storytelling.
