Church of the Saviour is a nondenominational Christ-centered church in the suburbs of Philadelphia with a membership of approximately 1200 and Sunday attendance near 1500. We are committed to being Biblically based and Spirit empowered,
and to follow a 43-year tradition of “unity in essentials and liberty in the nonessentials.” Our mission is to “glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ in Wayne and beyond.” Church of the Saviour’s DNA embraces “His last command, our first concern,”
which is manifested by our support of over 100 missionaries in 27 countries.
We value a strong, engaging and mission-focused Children’s Ministry (birth to grade 6) that annually impacts 300 children during the school year and 1,000 in summer camps. We annually train and utilize 400+ volunteers to serve alongside staff to implement
our vision and mission in the truth of the gospel and impressing on their hearts to love the Lord their God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength (Deuteronomy 6:5) and to teach them to love their neighbor as their self. (Matthew
The Children’s Ministry Director, having a heart for children and volunteers of all ages, is responsible for the Biblical and Christ-centered vision and strategic leadership of the Children’s Ministry. The ministry seeks to develop and foster
a welcoming and safe community for children to connect with God and one another through ministry opportunities of Christian education and intentional faith development. It also seeks to develop teens and adults in leadership and discipleship responsibilities
within the Children’s Ministry
Model mature Christian discipleship and evangelism for
all children, volunteers, believers and nonbelievers.
Develop, implement and vibrantly communicate strategic initiatives and goals that are engaging, gospel- and Christ- centered. Address true heart change and equip children to become mature disciples by igniting
a desire in children for a genuine and personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Recruit, train and develop a cross-generational base of volunteers
ranging from young-adult summer interns to teen helpers and adult volunteers.
Shepherd and care for children and their families, as well as volunteers.
Build strong transitional bridges between the Student Ministry, Young-Adult Ministry and Church of the Saviour’s larger adult congregation.
Be a champion of the Children’s Ministry, resulting in the recruitment of volunteers and the financial support of the camp scholarship fund;
Champion the four elements of Church of the Saviour’s vision:
mission, central focus, culture of humility and
Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent. Formal Biblical training with demonstrated proficiency in interpreting, studying and developing lessons from God’s word
Qualified candidates must have:
- significant leadership and shepherding experience of empowering staff and volunteers within a medium to large church setting
- a thriving, vibrant, Christ and gospel centered ministry that demonstrates age-appropriate framework from birth through elementary school
- a demonstrated ability to recruit and equip a cross-generational base of volunteers to serve within the communicated vision for programs and camps
- a demonstrated passion for evangelism
- strong and effective communication skills (written and spoken)
