Job Description:

  • Must have a heart for the youth and a vision of where he wants to take them.




1. Band

    Specific tasks involved:

    • Offer spiritual guidance in the area of praise and worship.

    • Build teams of musicians.

    • Find new music.

    • Chart songs as necessary.

    • Lead Monday night practice at 6:00 - 8:00 pm.


2. Singers

    Specific tasks involved:

    • Offer spiritual guidance in the area of praise and worship.

    • Find new music for praise and worship, and also choir songs for Specials, Christmas, Easter, etc.

    • Lay down vocal parts as needed.

    • Build teams of singers.

    • Lead Monday night practice 7:00 - 8:30 pm.

    • Oversee Music Ministry Team Leaders


3. Media

    Specific tasks involved:

    • Oversee computer/projector/lighting/sound volunteers.

    • Oversee CD duplication volunteers.


4. Sunday Mornings

    Specific tasks involved:

    • Practice with Music Ministry, 8:00 - 9:00 am.

    • Lead praise and worship, 10:30 am.


5. Wednesday Nights

     Specific tasks involved:

      • Practice with adult praise and worship team 6:15pm.

      • Lead praise and worship  7:00pm.


6. Weekday Work Schedule

      Sunday                      7:45am - 12:30pm

      Monday                      8:30am - 3:00pm Monday night practice  5:45 - 8:30pm

      Tuesday                     8:30am - 4:30pm

      Wednesday                3:00pm - 8:30pm

      Thursday                    8:30am - 4:30pm

      Friday Off

      Saturday Off




1. Able to work with youth and young adults.


2. Able to plan, organize, lead, and guide complex projects and spontaneous activities related to youth



3. Competent in basic lay counseling and listening skills appropriate for youth ministry.


4. Willing to work cooperatively with others, to maintain a positive outlook and disposition, and to be 

     flexible in solving problems.


5. Able to protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality.  Refraining from

     indiscriminately sharing personal information is critical.  Discretion must be exercised when dealing

     with the public, youth and their parents, and the church’s leaders and members.



•  Build a leadership team over the youth department, and mentor other people to do the youth director’s


•  Plan regular youth mid-week services which include: praise and worship, games, preaching, small  


•  Teach the uncompromised Word of God, and use others to teach as well.

•  Have outings with youth besides the mid-week service at least once a month, preferably on a Friday 

   or Saturday night.

•  Visit schools and have lunch with the youth, be active in sporting events and other community events

    in order to draw young people to Christ and to our church.

•  Oversee the planning of youth service projects for our church and the community.

•  Oversee drama, dance, and music teams.
