Good Hope Baptist Church is a contemporary church in Iva, SC, just 20 minutes south of Anderson. We are looking for someone to oversee our Children’s Ministry: Nursery through 5th Grade. There are a lot of great things happening at Good Hope. We need someone who can develop a team of volunteers and administrative systems to help us be more effective. Currently, we have 50-60 children involved in the ministry, utilizing 50 volunteers. Our programs include Children’s Sunday School, Kidz Worship on Sunday mornings, and Team Kid on Wednesday night. -Lead, by example, the disciplined Christian life exhibited by an exemplar attitude, a vibrant personal devotional life, personal evangelism, and a love for Jesus.
-Organize, coordinate, and promote the regular weekly programming for the Children’s Ministry under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.
-Coordinate and supervise the various ministry teams required to make the Children’s Ministry effective at Good Hope (Nursery, Preschool, Elementary, VBS, etc.).
-Recruit, develop, mentor, and schedule volunteers to accomplish the work of the ministry.
-Cultivate an atmosphere of camaraderie and teamwork with everyone involved in the ministry.
-Encourage and incorporate parental involvement throughout the Children’s Ministry.
-View Children’s Ministry as a means to reach families for Christ, not just children.
-Be a catalyst for community change and outreach through Good Hope.
-Undergird the simple purposes of Good Hope in all he/she does: Worship, Connect, and Serve.
-Be willing to be a team player and help with other ministry areas, as needed.
-Ensure that our facilities are safe and accommodating for modern Children’s Ministry.
-Set the example of servant leadership by leading in a way that demonstrates humility and the willingness to do what he/she asks others to do.
-Set the example of excellence by doing his/her best and expecting the best from everyone else.
-Plant deep roots through intentional relationships and family participation in the other activities at Good Hope.
-Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and staff development activities.
-Develop the annual budgets for the Children’s Ministry.
This position is bi-vocational, so the church understands that our Children’s Director will have other primary job responsibilities that must be accounted for. However, because of the importance of this job in the weekly ministry of Good Hope, we expect Sundays and Wednesdays to have priority over any other work obligation. Other office hours and planning are to be determined by the Children’s Ministry Director. We anticipate 12-15 hours weekly dedicated to this job.
