Northway Church ( is a 15-year-old healthy, growing church located in Macon, Georgia. The church places a high priority on family ministry and as a result has attracted a large population of young families. The church has seen significant growth over the last three years and is looking for a high capacity leader to be a part of a team committed to this vision of reaching young families in our community.


Northway Church has a four-year old children’s worship center and contemporary, inviting small group rooms for Sunday morning children’s ministry (5K-5th grade). The church believes strongly in small group, life-on-life ministry over classroom, lecture style environments. Classrooms are outfitted with sofas and cushions, creating relaxed, discussion oriented areas for leaders and children to interact.


Northway Church currently has a master plan which allocates additional space for the children’s ministry. The church has taken the necessary financial steps for this plan to become a reality and is now looking for the right person to implement their vision for this ministry, and to speak into the specifics for this plan.


The ideal candidate will have the ability to take a ministry of 200 children and 75 volunteers to the “next level”. This person will love the challenge of discovering the newest ideas and effective methods of teaching the gospel to children and reaching families. A high value is placed on innovation, creativity, and a desire to see children grow in their faith. This person will be able to manage a healthy, children’s ministry staff as well as plan for additional staff as the ministry grows. 


This individual will be first and foremost a devoted follower of Christ. They will be emotionally stable, gospel-centered, and highly relational. 


Experience and Skills desired:


1 - A devoted follower of Christ and gospel centered in their approach to ministry.

2 - Emotionally stable.

3 - A proven track record of being a self-starter who does not have to be micromanaged. 

4 - A bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies and / or education.

5 - Experience as a leader in a thriving children’s ministry, either as paid staff or a high level volunteer. 

6 - A team player who is interested in the overall success and health of the church.

7 - Someone who understands family ministry as the model for a successful children’s ministry. 

8 - Excellent written and oral communication skills.

9 - Ability to coach volunteers and staff; a leader of leaders. 

10 - The ability to have fun with the kids!


Macon, known as the “Heart of Georgia”, is a town full of southern charm and antebellum architecture. It has a population of 150,000 and is an hour’s drive south from Atlanta. Macon is the home to Mercer University, Wesleyan College, and Middle Georgia State University.
