Job Description:

Position: Part Time (20 hours) at our Haymarket Campus Reports to: Haymarket Campus Pastor
The Children’s Coordinator works with the Campus Pastor, other staff, and volunteers to:
• Invite, Connect, Equip, and Sustain volunteers as related to the children’s
ministries of St. Tom in the Hay
• Create, implement, and manage opportunities for children to begin to learn and
understand their place in God’s story
Must be a passionate, enthusiastic, and authentic follower of Jesus with a commitment to
ministering God’s message to our youngest participants. Possess a bachelor’s degree and at
least 3-5 years experience (or significant experience in children’s ministry leadership). Be
enthusiastic, energetic, and have an encouraging personality. Strong team leadership,
communication and organizational skills are essential. He/she must possess intermediate
computer knowledge, including experience with MS Office Suite and email, and have the
ability to learn and adapt to computer programs used in conjunction with the administering of
this ministry. This individual must also be able to solve practical problems using a wide range
of resources.
Staff/Lay Relationships and Time Requirements:
The Children’s Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Campus Pastor, and also
coordinate with the Executive Director. Position requires a Sunday time commitment that
typically spans 9 - noon, but may vary in accordance with activities. The remaining hours can
be worked remotely and in coordination with meeting requirements as directed by the
Campus Pastor. He/she must be a team player, be able to effectively work well with a variety
of people, and actively promote the mission of St. Tom in the Hay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recruit and Equip volunteers to create, implement, and manage opportunities for
children to learn God’s story and begin an understanding of their place in His story and
how they can begin to serve and bless others through activities that include but are
not limited to: Sunday School, fellowship, missions, retreats, and outreach
• Invite, train, coordinate, and support volunteers for all children’s ministry areas
• Source, prepare, and distribute curriculum materials to Sunday School teachers
• Learn and maintain database in the Planning Center program (used to coordinate
volunteer scheduling and Sunday morning student check-ins)
• Direct, manage, and oversee all set up/tear down efforts as needed for Sunday school
classes and nursery
• Maintain attendance records and communicate data to the appropriate staff on a
weekly basis
• Understand and implement the Safe Sanctuary child protection and safety policies
