The Associate Pastor will serve as a right-hand man with the
Senior Pastor in five essential areas:
-Help develop, encourage and coordinate CBC staff and volunteer leadership so each member, and the team they serve with, are fulfilling their God given callings at CBC.
-With the Senior Pastor and Lead Deacon, conduct and document performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and help to CBC staff and volunteer leaders.
-With the Senior Pastor, coordinate all CBC boards so that they are encouraged in their service and unified in the Lord’s vision for CBC.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
-Meet regularly with the Senior Pastor to pray with and provide significant, creative input with vision casting and goal setting for CBC.
-Monitor the pulse of the congregation.
-Ensure staffing, facilities, and ministries are appropriately and effectively aligned to best meet CBC’s strategic vision and goals.
-Anticipate, and help orchestrate CBC’s Seasons of outreach (i.e. Christmas Services and Special Services)
-In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, visit and/or counsel those in need of personal pastoral care.
-Help officiate weddings and funerals.
-Train and release others in the essential ministries of visitation and counseling, (i.e. Stephen Ministry)
-Encourage and support all facets of CBC’s ministry so that they flourish for the glory of the Lord (i.e. Seniors, Youth, Children, Young Marrieds, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Prayer Ministry…)
Teaching / Preaching
-Bring messages for CBC when requested by the Senior Pastor.
-Teach Bible Studies as needed for the spiritual growth of the people of CBC.
-Teach leadership and training seminars as needed.
-Develop a team of people who will cultivate, organize and put in place a matrix of small groups.
-Help oversee, train and develop small group leaders.
-Help identify and utilize curriculums that reflect CBC’s vision and goals.
Line Of Accountability
-The Lord, the Senior Pastor, and the Deacon Board.
Qualifications (Must Haves)
1. A love and passion for Jesus.
2. A love for His people at CBC.
3. The character, calling and integrity of Elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
4. Great organizational and administrative skills that he will use instinctively to help CBC thrive for the Lord.
5. An ability to supervise staff as well as understand, motivate, and support ministry leaders.
Master of Divinity Degree
Commensurate with experience, giftedness, and education.
