Sevier Heights Baptist Church (SHBC) has a passion to see God move in the lives of the people of Knoxville, TN. The church exists to make fully devoted followers of Christ and has been doing so since 1936. SHBC does not just want to fill chairs in a building, they seek to help members and guests invest in those outside the walls of the church building. From their Kids Ministry to their adults small groups, SHBC continues to grow and develop followers of Christ.


Sevier Heights Baptist Church is seeking a gifted and passionate new College Pastor who will take over the day-to-day responsibilities of the ministry and shepherd its growth in the coming years. The thriving College Ministry of SHBC is called “The Walk.” The goal of this ministry is to change the way college students church and help them reflect the purpose and personality of Jesus. The college-aged and young adults gather together on Wednesday nights for a time of live music, teaching, and fellowship. What started as a Bible study with merely 40-50 people has grown to 700-1,000 weekly, and they are poised for growth with 1,200 anticipated attendees in the Fall.


The ideal candidate for the College Pastor will passionately minister to college students outside of the church while investing in the leaders and volunteers of SHBC. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities with experience leading in both small and large group settings. He will be a confident "connector" with an upstanding character that represents Sevier Heights Baptist Church well. Formal education is not a a requirement for the College Pastor; however, it is preferred that they will hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching the unreached, working within a community, and promoting innovation through collaboration. They will have, at minimum, 3-5 years of experience as a staff member in a successful ministry leadership capacity.
