Church on the Hill …
165 years ago a pastor rolled into the town of San Jose on a horse drawn wagon to launch the First Baptist Church of San Jose. California wasn’t even officially formed as a state until later that same year. This church has a rich heritage, and yet it’s
taken on a modern, fresh approach in the last decade including a name change to Church on the Hill. The mission of this church is the call to MAKE DISCIPLES WHO CAN MAKE DISCIPLES. San Jose is now at the heart of the Silicon Valley, which means it is filled

Church on the Hill is associated with Next Generation Churches, which is the Northern California arm of the CBAmerica (Conservation Baptist Association). Sunday morning feels like a non-denominational church when you observe the warm and relevant culture
of ministry. The church operates with a united staff team, elder board, and congregation who are focused on the mission of making disciples by making life with Jesus accessible to un-churched and de-churched people.
Worship and Arts Pastor
Church on the Hill is looking for a full-time Worship and Arts Pastor who will shape the visual and musical environment in the worship gathering. The candidate must be vocally, instrumentally, and technically proficient and have great stage presence to
lead people to connect with God. The Worship Pastor will be expected to have high team building abilities to recruit, train, and coach volunteer teams.
The pastors and directors approach ministry as a team, and the worship pastor must function comfortably as a part of that leadership team. The Worship and Arts Pastor participates on the Message Team and then through a Program Team creates life-filled worship
A Bachelor’s degree in the field of music or theology from a four year college, university, or seminary is required; or 3-5 years experience in a similar church ministry. Music at Church on the Hill is band-driven, utilizing modern music. Some weeks will
demand different styles of music to enhance the point of the message and also keep the worship gathering from being predictable.
Lastly but most important, the worship pastor must have a thriving relationship with Christ and a heart to work hard so that people far from God can discover God’s love for them.
