Desert Sun Church is a new church formed as a re-plant in North Phoenix in Arizona. Based in a newer area with a lot of new building going up and a combination of relational and innovative culture, it is poised for growth. The recent sale of their former
property adds to the opportunities that lie ahead. A key to reach the community comes by connecting and serving families well. Desert Sun has a church culture that is focused on its mission to reach the community and the goal of seeing transformed lives.
The church is working with the simple mission of introducing people to Jesus and help them follow him. Their ministry through community groups is a central part of their ministry philosophy, being the church within the church. They offer a place of relevant
and contemporary worship.
Desert Sun Church is looking for a dynamic and gifted Director of Children's ministry to join the team, bringing fresh leadership and vibrancy to the children ministries at DSC. The Director of Children's ministry will be a strategic visionary leader who
will oversee ministry for birth through sixth grade. They will work to build healthy families by recruiting, developing, and leading the children ministry leaders and teams, as well as coordinate engaging and fun teaching and worshipping environments. The Director of Children's
ministry will lead in the planning and conducting of Children's Church during weekend services, missional outreach, special events, and activities (i.e. camps, retreats, family and missional community events) for children, and families. This person will assess
and recommend staffing and curriculum for the children ministry programs.
The Director of Children's ministry will develop, plan, and conduct regular children ministry leadership training and orientation for staff and volunteers. This person will be a leader of leaders, team builder, and have a strong heart for children, and their
families. This person must also understand the importance of collaboration and the value of mentoring future leaders. It is important that they stay current with trends in children ministries and can implement age appropriate, family friendly events that will
engage people in missional living.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching children, and families with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. Being a "replant" with attendance below 100, it is
imperative that the person has the ability to grow a ministry. The ideal candidate will have the potential to thrive in a setting much larger than the current size of Desert Sun.
Full-time (we are open to part time, with main focus being on the children's church during the weekend services)
