The Union Church of San Juan is actively seeking a Pastor, who must be an experienced, Ordained Minister of a Mainline Protestant denomination.

Church Profile:

The Union Church is a 98-year-old independent, self-supporting, interdenominational, congregational church. We are noted on the island as a bastion of classic ecclesiastical choral and instrumental music. The manse is a condominium apartment adjacent to the church, one block away from the beach with a view of the ocean.

The church’s mission statement reads:

“The mission of the Union Church of San Juan is to unite all those who, believing in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, wish to witness to what He is doing in and for the world and to serve Him in ministry to the spiritual, intellectual, and social needs of the community and island, with worship services in English: to be an agent of reconciliation where differences in language, culture, and custom might otherwise divide, to be a force for good in the larger world community, joining with and supporting the efforts of sister churches in Puerto Rico and abroad.”

The church was originally founded by Presbyterians and Methodists, and we embrace all those of Christian faith and those seeking Christ as their Savior. Our congregation is composed of worshipers from all walks of life and diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Worship services and meetings are conducted in English.

Our formal Sunday worship service has been historically traditional and liturgical, and held in a relaxed and relational atmosphere. The understood function of this service is to raise the consciousness of the worshipper from the mundane world to communion with the Divine.

Average attendance at our Sunday morning worship service is from 60 to 100 people on regular Sundays, and more on the first Sunday of the month when communion is celebrated. We are a stable and welcoming church community with many outreach ministries and are always seeking more. Our Christian Education programs include Children’s Church, Youth Group, and adult Bible studies.

The Union Church Council is the policy making body of the Church and leads the church, with the elected officers forming the executive committee and elected chairpersons of the committees that carry out the work of the church forming the remaining members. The Pastor is an ex-oficio member of the council and Spiritual Leader of the Church. The Church employs an administrative assistant and a music director/organist.
