The director of traditional music manages the overall music program for the traditional services at Mineral Springs UMC The director will coordinate selections and arrangements with the pastoral leadership team. The director will work closely with the musicians,
adult and children's choirs, and all others providing musical leadership in traditional worship. The director will conduct the music program in collaboration with other paid staff, volunteer staff and lay members of the church. The duties listed below are
not all inclusive and may be extended at the discretion of the senior pastor.
1 - professing Christian
2 - formal education or equivalent information musical experience
3 - ability to read music, conduct choirs and play organ and/or organ
4 - excellent skills in planning, communications and leadership
1 - Provide excellent leadership of all aspects of music in traditional worship
2 - Coordinate music selection and presentation dates with pastoral leadership team
3 - Attend weekly staff meetings
4 - Facilitate music selections appropriate for current abilities of choirs while working to improve the abilities of all involved in the music program
5 - Conduct regular choir practices
6 - Coordinate calendar and scheduling for adult choir (including soloists, etc.), children's choir, hand bell choir and other groups (music, drama, dance, etc.)
7 - Manage the worship budget in procuring music, etc.
8 - Communicate worship calendar to all involved effectively
9 - Recruit and mentor new members for choirs
10 - Coordinate instrumenet maintenance for sanctuary piano and organ
