Summary Description

The youth pastor of Stone's Throw Church is responsible to disciple the junior and senior high students of Stone's Throw Church. To accomplish this, the youth pastor will have a burden and passion for youth and their families to know, love, and worship Jesus. The position will oversee the development of youth groups, youth worship, retreats, special events, and discipleship groups. It is our hope that the youth pastor will be able to set the vision for a youth ministry that reaches the students of the church and their friends. We desire that the youth ministry would be a reason why people far from God would desire to come to Stone's Throw, and eventually a reason for families to become members of the church.


This position also includes a component of part-time worship leading as an assistant worship pastor. The position is responsible to lead the congregation in worship 2-3 times per month, and is responsible for training and shepherding bands, and overseeing the worship portion of services, including musical selection and arrangements. Additionally, this position is responsible for the visual and musical aspects of the church service, and oversees the key components for the overall feel, aesthetics, and health of the church.

  • Set the vision for the youth ministry with a plan to carry it out
  • Develop and lead programs according to the vision of the youth ministry, which would include including spiritual growth, student leadership, and evangelism
  • Recruit, train, and retain adult volunteer leaders
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with churched and unchurched students through regular, intentional points of connection
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with parents
  • Continually develop skills through research, equipping events, and networking
  • Set and manage the ministry budget
  • Involve students in the ministry of the church as a whole, accentuating the church’s vision, corporate worship, and avenues of service
  • Attend weekly church staff meetings
  • Provide a weekly report to the Senior Pastor of your goals, accomplishments, prayers, and praises

Job Functions Youth Pastor


Worship Leader

  • Prepare worship orders through the selection of songs and arrangements
  • Maintain oversight in leading Sunday morning worship
  • Oversee all areas of production, such as audio, slides and video presentations, and service management
  • Work with staff pastors and volunteer worship leaders as the point person for Sunday morning worship
  • Shepherd staff and volunteers serving with bands and production teams
  • Participate in songwriting, arranging, and recording
  • Lead worship for special events, such as Good Friday, Christmas, etc.
  • Organize and participate in local events, such festivals, community gatherings, etc.
  • Attend weekly church staff meetings
  • Office hours (flexible)
  • Tuesday staff meeting (generally 8:30am-10:00am)
  • Sunday morning worship service (generally 9:00am-1:00pm)
  • Weekly youth event (TBD)
  • Regular Community Group meeting (flexible)
  • Ad hoc commitments, such as retreats, special events, training, etc. (flexible)
  • Bachelor’s degree recommended
  • Minimum of two (2) years commensurate experience in both youth ministry and worship leading
