Piñon Hills Student Ministry Residency Initiative
Looking for an opportunity to grow and hone your skills in ministry? PHSM may have the opportunity you’ve been looking for. We are currently seeking six young adult candidates interested in full-time ministry in the areas of children, student, young adult and
worship. Join a growing program in a long standing church.
The main goal of our residency program is to develop you as we continue to develop.
- Team building retreat
- Attend staff-led classes throughout the year that deal with the ins and outs of specific ministries in the church
- Serve in Wednesday and/or Sunday night student ministry programs.
- Serve in weekend adult, student and children’s programs
- Attend young adult programs
- Attend and facilitate retreats/camps and other trips, such as skiing or hiking.
- Four hours a week will be dedicated to help manage facilities
What you get besides the experience:
Think of it like an extended internship for building your experience. We will set you up with a host family that will take care of your living needs such as food and shelter. You have the option of finding a part-time job or you can raise support, if you
are looking to be more involved. If you are a current student, there is an affordable community college just 2 minutes away. There will be many opportunities for adventure. We will explore places likes the Grand Canyon, the southern Rocky Mountains of Colorado
(Ski Purgatory) and Arches National park, plus more! This is a place for adventure and the outdoors, especially camping, biking and ski/snowboarding. Lastly, the four corners area is loaded in both history and culture. Within 45 minutes of Farmington, you
can experience drastically different cultures.
About our church:
Piñon Hills Community Church is a nondenominational Christian church in Farmington, New Mexico. We have a strong desire to reach the “unchurched.” We strive to build better lives, families and communities through Christ’s love.
Farmington is the retail center of the Four Corners region. We are nestled close to the Colorado border just shy of Durango and are 3.5 hours north of Albuquerque. PHCC has a weekly attendance of 1,500 people and the student ministry currently reaches 160
students during the week.
What a weekly schedule could like:
Monday: day off
Tuesday: facilities, department directives, evening off
Wednesday: team meeting, class time, prep time before PM service
Thursday: planning/prep/flex time, evening off
Friday: day off
Saturday: day off or Saturday PM service or ski club/adventures

your skills on an instrument or in leading. You would serve across as many platforms as desired/capable. Residents are expected to have the heart for full-time ministry, abide by the student ministry lifestyle covenant and give a time commitment of 12 months–with
a minimum of 20 hours per week–from September 2015 – August 2016. Preferably we are looking for single candidates under the age of 30.
