JOB TITLE:                             Family Life Pastor

DEPARTMENT:                   Family Ministries

SUPERVISOR:                       Senior Pastor

STATUS:                                   Full-time – Exempt; Associate Pastor



Under the general direction of the Senior Pastor, the incumbent is responsible for the hands-on development and implementation of the vision, strategy and tactical elements for all programs, activities and educational aspects related to Family Ministries at The LIFEhouse Church (TLHC). Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for the spiritual growth of our young families and their children to prepare and engage them for ministry (as appropriate). This individual would be “hands on” for the high school age ministry, while providing oversight for all other ministries within the Family Ministries Department (FM).



  1. The Biblical teaching and spiritual mentoring of TLHC young families and their children
  2. Recruit, train, lead, and develop the required volunteer teams and ministry leaders
  3. Develop and implement the vision for FM
  4. Offer pastoral care and encouragement of FM volunteers
  5. Develop processes necessary for effective FM operations
  6. Responsible for good stewardship of the FM budget, facilities and resources
  7. Oversee the selection and implementation of curriculum
  8.  Develop communication plans to keep volunteers and parents informed and involved
  9. Manage communications between ministries that interact with FM
  10.  Develop and implement all safety and security processes for FM in cooperation with the church’s safety and security team
  11.  Oversee and implement all programming for FM
  12.  Other duties as required within the scope of this job description





  • Bachelor’s Degree in religious studies, ministry, divinity, or theology; relevant MA degree preferred    



  • Gender appropriate mentoring of youth in Christian behavior and values, with emphasis given to experience in high school ministries
  • Experience recruiting and organizing volunteer networks to provide quality ministries for nursery through high school ministries
  • Any combination of work experience and education that will meet the job requirements
  • Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by action, attitude, and behavior



  • Methods, practices, and procedures pertaining to the leading and administration of a Christian based youth education program
  • Modern management and administrative practices, procedures, equipment and techniques
  • Manual and computer-assisted attendance and record management systems
  • Methods, practices, and procedures pertaining to issues related to safety and security of youth in a Church environment
  • Methods and procedures to produce special events and performances to reach youth for Christ



  • Demonstrated ability to minister and mentor to Jr. and Sr. high school youth and help them grow in their faith
  • Administrative and personnel skills to lead and manage the FM Department including the ability to recruit, utilize, and motivate volunteer teams
  • Be a reliable, trustworthy self-starter, and excellent at following through on details
  • Ability to embrace innovation and creativity while adapting to growth and change
  • Ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality
  • Proven skills utilizing a cooperative, collaborative team building style both as a leader and as a member
  • Ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers to achieve results
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
