Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church

Part-time – 20 hours per week




Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church (GSPC) is looking for an exceptional Director of Modern Worship to join us in the adventure of ministry.  The person we seek will be a growing disciple of Jesus Christ with a sense of purposefulness, enthusiasm, and commitment to teamwork.  The person will be energetic, while being responsible for leading and inspiring the congregation to praise God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit through the medium of music. 




This position reports to the Pastor and is responsible to the Session through the Worship Team.





  • Develop Praise Teams for Modern gathering by recruiting and developing both professional, paid and volunteer musicians and singers as needed
  • Direct worship at Modern worship gathering each week
  • Improve the musical abilities and technical skills of the Praise Teams through inviting qualified persons to participate, through leading effective rehearsals and providing musical charts for musicians and singers
  • Take the lead in and work with pastors to select hymns and songs that are appropriate to the Modern gathering
  • Secure and oversee all instrumentalists and singers involved in worship and in special programs
  • Willing and able to pray as appropriate during worship leadership
  • Lead worship for mid-week Children and Youth programs
  • Other duties as assigned





  • Demonstrated ability to direct and develop the musical group appropriate to the job description
  • Ability to lead, coordinate and serve as a resource person to the music and arts program of the church
  • Ability to play a musical instrument, desirable
  • Training and experience in the field of Christian music and the arts with a Christian emphasis
  • Experience in praise team direction
  • Bachelor of Arts degree with a music major or minor, preferred
  • Ability to work well with and lead both professional and volunteer musicians with differing musical skills
  • Experience working with Children and Students, preferred
  • Physical Requirements:  Requirements include the ability to sit at and use a computer and other office equipment, lift up to fifteen pounds, be able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs to participate in meetings and presentations, and the physical dexterity to provide musical direction
