Job Description:

In 1937, founder Henrietta Mears visited Forest Home – what was then a privately owned resort in the San Bernardino Mountains. After driving through the grounds, she declared to her traveling companions, “Don’t even bother to stop … we can’t afford all of this.”  Through a series of miraculous events, the campground contacted Ms. Mears and offered the $350,000 appraised resort for $30,000, and the camp was officially founded in 1938; the rest is history.  Since that amazing start, God has granted Forest Home unprecedented growth and impact for His Kingdom.  With 1,800 beds at the Forest Falls location and 240 beds at the Ojai location, Forest Home is one of the largest Christian run camps in the country.  Young Leaders, such as the Rev. Billy Graham & Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ, both were greatly impacted by the ministry at Forest Home, and every year thousands of children, youth, and adults find renewed vision, clarity of purpose, and salvation in Christ through this ministry.

Ojai Camp Director position will be largely responsible for the leadership and management of the entire operation of Ojai.  With over 200 miles separating the campuses, it’s critically important that this person stay connected to the heart and vision of Forest Home and be able to work with little to no oversight.  This position will be responsible for every aspect of the camp, from safety and security, to budget and bookings. Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Ojai Camp Director. However, they will likely, at minimum, hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Significant experience (5+ years) in a leadership role at a leading regional or national camp or ministry is required. Experience with Staff Development, Marketing, and Facilities Development are highly desirable.
