Young Adult Minister - Oklahoma

First Baptist Church Stillwater is a 122 year old church located in the downtown area of a growing, quintessential, and vibrant college community. Stillwater, Oklahoma is a very cool place to live and, as a result, is growing fast across all demographic groups.

For the past ten months the church has gone through an intensive and comprehensive strategic planning process with the help of an outside professional management consultant. This planning process has generated a number of changes in strategy, structure, and resource allocation. The church is going through a major demographic shift from an older congregation to a focus on reaching the millennial generation of singles, young couples and young families. Although the church is somewhat traditional in approach to music and Sunday morning bible study, the church is open to embracing new programs, approaches, and people groups. The church is rebooting and reinventing itself to increase its impact on the culture while connecting with valuable, God honoring traditions of the past.

The church is conservative theologically but also has a warm, friendly spirit of welcoming visitors and members from all types of backgrounds. The church recently upgraded its staff with a new Children’s Director and Business Administrator. These newly created positions complement the existing positions of Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor. The church is rebuilding its staff and creating the nucleus of a leadership team for this new, exciting phase in the church’s life. In addition, the church is upgrading its facilities so that they are more user friendly and accessible.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with a passion for reaching Young Adults (twenty somethings+) and millennials. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with this age group and a proven track record of reaching and growing this demographic in a church context. A proven track record is more important than educational background.

This candidate needs to be a self-starter, high energy person who can take initiative and go after people and build a ministry basically from scratch. The candidate should also have strong speaking skills, teaching skills, and preferably, preaching skills. One key responsibility will be building and working with a team. This is a position for an extravert (E on MBTI) and an organized person (Judging on MBTI). This is not a desk job but a relationship building job and a ministry growing job. If you like a challenge, then this job may be right for you.
