Dear Pastor of Junior High Ministries prospect,

 

We appreciate your interest in this ministry to Junior High aged young people of Grace Community Church and the Visalia area.  Grace Community is a growing church of some 800 attending weekly.  The church is located in Visalia, California in the San Joaquin Valley south of Fresno, north of Bakersfield on highway 198, the portal to the Sequoia National Park.

Our ministry to Junior High School students currently has around 50 seventh through eighth grade students, and approximately 15 adult volunteer leaders.

 

You will find in this packet a job description of the position and a general application. The process will involve the following:

 

1.   Read the job description to determine if your gifting and life purpose line up with this ministry.

2.   Write a letter of interest detailing why you feel called to youth and what gifts you have to fulfill that calling.

Job Description

 

Purpose of Position

 

To develop, oversee, and provide spiritual leadership to the Jr. High ministries.

 

Qualifications

 

Fulfills the qualifications of an overseer as listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 & Titus 1:6-9

 

A character reflective of the Fruit of the Spirit as listed in Galatians 5:22-23.

 

Educational requirement:  Masters preferred or comparable education and ministry experience.  

 

Agreement and support of the Grace Community Statement of Faith.

 

Appropriate ministry experience and gifting.

 

Responsibilities

 

Development and oversight of the Jr. High ministry 

 

Specific Responsibilities: Oversee, coordinate and develop the Jr. High ministries; recruit and train Jr. High staff; promote the discipleship of all Jr. High students in spiritual growth; develop training for Jr. High students in missions and local outreach.

 

Is an Assistant Pastor Position and reports to the leader of Student Ministries.

Specific Responsibilities

 

1.   Oversight of the Junior High Ministries of Grace Community Church, including vision casting, goal setting, and evaluation, in pursuing the purpose and mission statement of the Student Ministries department of Grace Community Church

 

“We exist to REACH non-believing students with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, RAISING believing students up as they grow in their faith, connecting them with God and others, and to REVERENCE the Lord by living a lifestyle of ministry”

 

2.         Administrational oversight of the including the following areas:

  • Enlisting staff for the ministry
  • Planning oversight
  • Budgetary oversight
  • Communication/Promotion (email newsletter, bulletin announcements, and all other promotional materials)
  • Oversight includes direction, support, encouragement and yearly evaluation

 

  1. Oversight of the Staff Team (ministry and spiritual development/accountability of volunteer team), which includes the recruitment, oversight, and nurture of the Staff Team.  This includes overseeing the monthly Team meetings for the purpose of direction, support, and training

 

  1. Fulfill the role of pastor-teacher of the Junior High Ministries.  This would include the oversight of the teaching ministries
  • Development of a comprehensive teaching plan for the ministry
  • Development and teaching of the Wednesday PM teaching schedule
  • Development and oversight of the Sunday AM Life Group Ministry
  • Other speaking/teaching as needed by Senior Pastor and/or Leader of Student Ministries within Student Ministries at-large

 

  1. Fulfill the pastoral duties within the Junior High Ministries through the following:
  • Relational ministry with the student and Staff Team.
  • Meeting weekly with a LIFE Groups (Sunday discipleship ministry).
  • Counseling appointments as needed within the ministry

 

  1. Be in attendance at the following Management meetings:
  • Weekly All Staff Meeting
  • Student Ministries Team Meeting
  • Weekly “One-on-One’s” with the Leader of Student Ministries

 

  1. Attend training conferences and seminars as well as personally keeping current in the area of Junior High Ministries
