Job Description:

POSITION:  Worship and Music Leader

REPORTS TO:  Senior Pastor

SUPERVISES:  Music team, choir

CLASSIFICATION:  Part-time, 20 hours per week

SALARY RANGE:  $18,000 - $22,000*

DATE:  June 18, 2015


To prepare God’s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4:12), with emphasis in planning, coordinating, directing, leading weekly worship music with a blend of traditional and contemporary music that resonates with multiple generations.


- Develops weekly worship plans and selects appropriate music for a multigenerational congregation
- Communicates worship plans to staff, worship teams and church in a timely manner
- Oversees and leads one service each Sunday and Special Events related to church calendar year
- Recruits and trains leaders for contemporary and traditional music teams
- Schedules and directs adult volunteer choir/ensembles for one or two Sundays each month and Special Events
- Participates in staff and ministry leadership meetings
- Manages and structures music budget in collaboration with Worship Committee and/or Session (Counsel)
- Maintains professional standards and renewal by attending professional development with approval of Session (Counsel), Worship or Personnel Committees
- Performs other duties as assigned by Pastor, Worship and/or Personnel Committees

III.  Required Personal Attributes:
Applicant possesses physical, mental, interpersonal and creative qualities that enable him/her to effectively execute all duties that are typically encountered and reasonably expected while serving in the role of worship and music leader.


IV.  Qualifications and Experience:

- BS or BA degree (preferred and desirable with music emphasis)
- Experience leading blended traditional and contemporary worship
- Ability to lead and mentor worship team(s) that will be proficient in traditional and contemporary music
- Strong organizational and people skills
- Possess positive attitude and ability to motivate and praise others
- Strong Christian commitment to serving as a disciple of Christ (highly desirable)


V.  Compensation:
- *$18,000 - $22,000 range (negotiable and commensurate w/ education level and/or experiences)
- Optional health benefits

- Professional growth per approval
