Cornerstone Church is definitely a great place to serve in ministry. We are a 15-year-old church in Southern Illinois (Marion), currently averaging just over 1,000 people in two Sunday morning gatherings. In the Spring of 2014, we moved into a former Wal-Mart
building with plenty of room to grow. God has recently provided the funding necessary to complete the build-out of all of the facility we need for the foreseeable future. We are certain the coming years will be full of anticipation, excitement, and new faces!

One of the significant strengths of Cornerstone Church is our leadership structure. We currently have five pastors who form a collaborative leadership body. We meet each week to ensure that we, along with our respective teams, are all pulling in the same
direction. Our church genuinely trusts our pastors with the leadership of our congregation, and we take getting it “right” quite seriously! Furthermore, our pastors (by way of our Lead Pastor) are directly accountable to our Lay Elders for that leadership.
We don’t live in the world of cumbersome policies and procedures, but we clearly recognize the heavy responsibility we carry as Cornerstone’s Pastors!
We are now looking to pull up another chair to our leadership table. Specifically, we are looking to add a team member with a significant ability to lead our Connections Ministry. This individual would take the lead of getting the people of Cornerstone
connected in community and ministry.
From the moment our new members/visitors walk in the door our first impression goal is for them to feel a connection with our community and that we truly care about them and their family.
We definitely believe in getting the right people on the bus here at Cornerstone! Are you the right person for our bus? To help you answer that question…
We need a veteran “connector.” Please do not apply if you cannot share how you have helped significant numbers of people connect in community and ministry. We know this is an area in our church needing significant improvement. Our pastors are convinced
getting our people connected is THE highest priority for this next season! You can be assured; our entire pastoral team will be assisting in this endeavor.
If you would rather hide in an office…trying to mind your own business (or ministry), PLEASE DO NOT APPLY! If that is your approach to ministry, you will not enjoy our team approach, and you will definitely not appreciate an “all hands on deck” prioritization
of helping Cornerstonians effectively connect in community and ministry. We have high expectations and are ready to work as a team to bring those expectations to fruition.
But…if you are a team player who is energized by working with a creative staff and are self-motivated enough to get the job done when no one else is in the office, you just might be our next Connections Pastor! Of course, if your life doesn’t line up with
God’s description of a pastor (or elder/ bishop/ overseer), PLEASE DO NOT APPLY! Actually, if your life doesn’t match that description, I hope you are reading this for someone else.
Our current Connections Pastor is in the process of making a 2-stage transition. He will switch over to a 1-year role of leading the build-out of our facility. At the completion of the build-out he will step into the role of our then retiring Executive
The Connections Pastor will sit on the executive leadership team and answer directly to the Lead Pastor.
In a recent questionnaire Cornerstone staff members identified those values most observable in our current Pastoral Team. The top four were excellence, accountability, cooperation, and vision. Other values receiving recognition were commitment, compassion,
contributing, efficiency, focus, generosity, integrity, performance, productivity, respect, and self-discipline. As you can see, our next Connections Pastor must be prepared to make significant contribution Day One!
