In 1999, a handful of people came together around a small kitchen table with the idea to begin a new church in Texarkana. It would take almost ten years to arrive at what Heritage now believes is the radical answer to that question. Their vision is simply put, “To create a church that unchurched people like.” Thousands of people in Texarkana are considered unchurched and most of these are unbelievers. Heritage Church’s passion is to reach them, and they believe to reach them they must be radical. The church has been designed with the unchurched in mind. They believe they have to do the things no one else is doing to reach the people no one else is reaching.

As a result, Heritage is a nondenominational church that continues to see the hand of God work in special ways among them and in their community. There is a buzz in Texarkana about their music, teaching style, and community groups, not to mention the growing Student and Children’s Ministries. The future is brighter than ever at Heritage and they believe God is up to something amazing. The Lead Pastor will be play a vital role as Heritage continues to seek God’s plan for this next exciting season of ministry.

The Lead Pastor will be the CEO of Heritage Church and will lead all of the ministries of the church guided by the Board of Elders and supported by ministry teams. The Lead Pastor is responsible for leading ministry teams made up of members of Heritage as determined for various purposes. The Lead Pastor will also serve specifically as an inspiring, authentically biblical, grace-centered, and relational communicator for weekend services. Heritage uses a team teaching model where teachers alternate speaking. Thus, the new Lead Pastor will develop and teach approximately forty messages each year and will be able to relate, connect, and engage the whole of the church, with a particular strength in connecting with a young and diverse congregation.

The successful Lead Pastor candidate will be able to thrive in a large, multi-faceted, and extremely diverse, growing church culture where relationships, grace, authenticity, integrity, and loyalty are critical.
