Good News is known for their love and care of the people in their community, and is committed to having missional communities throughout the Iowa Great Lakes region and beyond. The church is also known for their ability to reach families and individuals in the area and equip them with a biblical understanding and clear worldview. They offer a place of relevant and contemporary worship.

The Associate Pastor to Families will be a strategic visionary leader who will oversee ministry for birth through twelfth grade. They will work to build healthy families by recruiting, developing, and leading the children and student ministry leaders and teams, as well as coordinate engaging and fun teaching and worshipping environments. The Associate Pastor to Families will prepare (in consultation with the appropriate teams) and administer the annual children and student ministry budget. They will lead in the planning and conducting of missional outreach, special events, and activities (i.e. camps, retreats, family and missional community events) for children, students, and families. They will assess and recommend staffing and curriculum for the children and student ministry programs.

The Associate Pastor to Families will develop, plan, and conduct regular children and student ministry leadership training and orientation for staff and volunteers. They must also understand the importance of collaboration and the value of mentoring future leaders. It is important that they stay current with trends in children/student ministries and can implement age appropriate, family friendly events that will engage people in missional living.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in a setting committed to reaching children, students, and families with a high degree of innovation, recruitment, and retention of new members. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience working in a church of at least 500, as well as the potential to thrive in a setting much larger than the current size of Good News. The successful candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a focus in ministry or comparable ministry experience. 3-5 years proven leadership in children’s, student, or church ministry is required. Completed or progressing toward an MDiv is preferred.
