Title:            Associate Pastor of Youth and Outreach                                       

Position:  Full-time (40 hrs. a week)

Salary Range:  $35,000 - $38,000

 

Ministry Description:

The Associate Pastor will work alongside the Pastor, helping to grow, administer and develop the congregation of Bridges Church.   

 

The Associate Pastor will be mainly responsible for three areas of ministry. 

1)    Leading the youth ministry (about 20 hours per week).

2)    Leading the outreach and welcome ministries (about 10 hours per week).

3)    Assisting with other Church ministries and events (about 10 hours per week).

 

Personal and Ministry Qualifications:

  • Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Has a vital, growing, personal relationship with the Lord.
  • Meets the Biblical qualifications of a leader. (1Timothy 3; Titus 1).
  • Is committed to moral purity (and a healthy relationship with his wife and family)
  • Has spiritual gifts relevant to the position of ministry.
  • Agrees to the Bridges Statement of Faith and Membership Commitment.
  • Is committed to teamwork with the pastoral staff.
  • Is committed to the ministry, philosophy and programs of Bridges Church.
  • Is competent in organization, administration and interpersonal relationships.
  • Is competent in Bible teaching and speaking.
  • Is competent and excited about sharing their faith and helping others do the same.
  • Is competent in using social media to promote Church activities.
  • Has an outgoing personality.
  • Has the adequate skill and education for the position.
  • Has training in ministry and a desire for further training and growth.
  • Has spousal support (if applicable).

 

Position Description:

 

Youth

  • Lead, organize, plan and teach the youth.
  • Lead and coordinate activities for the youth.
  • Disciple youth and others in their relationship with the Lord.
  • Recruit and equip adults to work within the youth ministry. 
  • Provide retreats, conferences, camps and mission trips for the youth and others.
  • Maintain good communication with parents about all youth events and activities.
Outreach
 
  • Promote outreach as a key part of who we are as a church.
  • Lead in developing outreach events that appeal and draw the unsaved.
  • Lead in developing an outreach team.
  • Lead the welcome ministry including welcome table and visitor assimilation.
Other
  • Partners and vision with the Pastor for the ministry of Bridges Church.
  • Assist with Church ministries and events.
  • Faithfully attend and participate in church services and church wide activities.
  • Involve your family in the life of the church.
  • Get and maintain a Class B driver’s license (for driving a 15 passenger van).
  • Additional responsibilities may be developed according to individual interests and giftedness. (preaching, counseling, weddings, funerals, etc.)
  • Anything else deemed necessary by the Pastor.

 

Staff Structure and Relationship:

  • Maintain regular office hours
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Accountable directly to the Pastor
  • Staff members are to be available to help where needed. 
  • A servant attitude is part of all staff positions

 

Special Notes:

  • Concern should be given to personal balance in ministry with regard to family.
  • Model high standards in your own personal, family and devotional life.
  • Maintain a good example in your relationships with others, studying, praying, and tithing.
  • Effort should be made for continued personal growth and ministry exposure.
  • Help youth to establish Biblical guidelines for appropriate behavior, especially as it regards the opposite sex
  • Some families have strong concerns regarding their children’s activities, spiritual growth and development. They like to be informed when issues and activities might be going beyond what is normally assumed or expected. It would be your responsibility to get to know these families and their concerns and do what you can to work with them

 

Summary:

The Associate Pastor position needs to be considered a calling from God to care for, develop and train up the people at Bridges to be godly men and women.  Bridges should be a place that shapes their world view to be that of God’s.  This is done in relationship with the youth, their families, friends and members of the body.
