The successful candidate for this position will join the ministry staff at GracePointe as either “Director of Worship and Youth Ministries” or “Associate Pastor of Worship and Youth Ministries” at the discretion of the elders depending on background,
qualifications, and gifts.
1. Dual Position Focus:
a. To glorify God through spiritual leadership of the Praise Team and the congregation for the expression of our worship through music and song.
b. To glorify God by reaching, nurturing, and equipping youth and their families for spiritual growth, ministry within our church, and the living out of gospel mission.
2. General Staff Guidelines:
a. Pursue a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and be a member of GracePointe (or willing to become a member). Remain active in the body life of the church, including participation in a Community Group.
b. Weekly Meetings: Meet weekly with members of the Pastoral Staff for prayer, fellowship, communication, and planning/evaluation.
c. Bilingual (English and Spanish) candidates highly preferred given our church’s community and vision.
3. Outline of Worship Ministry Responsibilities:
a. Recruit and develop a volunteer Praise Team (which may include high school students). This includes adapting the Worship Ministry to the unique giftings and circumstances of our congregation and organizing a rotation of Praise Team members that will avoid
b. Be familiar with and make use of available worship resources.
c. Organize and lead a Praise Team practice during the week (currently Thursdays).
d. Organize and lead a time of final preparation each Sunday morning before the worship service (finish at least a half-hour before the worship service starts).
e. Give input into and oversee expenditures from the Worship Ministry budget. This includes oversight of the care and maintenance of church equipment.
f. Pursue opportunities to grow in the areas of Leadership and Worship Ministry (exploring additional training, intentional research and reading, etc.).
g. Be available to plan and lead worship at occasional special events. This includes a special seasonal preparation and emphasis on Christmas Eve and Easter services.
4. Outline of Youth Ministry Responsibilities:
a. Resource parents appropriately to help them disciple their children.
b. Recruit, train, and work with adult volunteers to lead and help disciple middle and high school students.
c. Lead and teach at most youth gatherings.
d. Plan youth ministry calendar, coordinate schedule with other church ministries, and communicate all information to parents.
e. Develop youth musicians and prepare them for involvement in the church’s worship ministry (high school students may join the Praise Team rotation).
f. Pursue opportunities to grow in ministry proficiency (seminars, intentional reading, additional training, etc.).
g. Oversee the budget/expenditures for the Youth Ministry.
5. Hours Expected:
This position is full-time. Attendance at all appropriate church services, ministries, and meetings is expected. Inasmuch as possible in the context of ministry, regular office hours should be kept. Availability 24/7 may be expected for special or emergency
6. Accountable To:
Accountable to the Senior Pastor(s) in consultation with the elders, to the congregation, and ultimately to God.
