The Minister of Evangelism and Missions is responsible for overseeing and implementing the church evangelism/missions ministries, training volunteers and actively participating in the evangelism ministry to influence others for Christ and bring them into the church. This includes leading the effort to maintain a comprehensive missions program in the church responsible for exploring mission opportunities, keeping the church informed regarding potential and ongoing mission involvement and serving as a liaison between the church and its missionaries.

 

We are looking for someone to:

  • Develop strategy, leading and implementing the church’s evangelism and missions ministries

  • Oversee two areas of responsibility:

    • Develop and lead a strategic and comprehensive evangelism program for the church

    • Develop and lead a strategic and comprehensive missions program for the  church

  • Evangelism Responsibilities:

    • Identify and implement a church-wide evangelism training program

    • Plan and implement ongoing church-wide evangelistic events that include methods to mobilize our members to invite the unchurched and unsaved.

    • Assist the Pastor and staff in planning evangelistic worship events

    • Assist and lead ministry staff in assuring that all events have an outreach or evangelistic component

    • Recruit, train and lead “Decision Counselors” who assist those who have made decisions in our services and other ministries

    • Develop, lead and implement an effective “New Believers” class

    • Lead our baptism efforts by leading the team that follow up on new believers through baptism and church membership

    • Coordinate our church’s efforts in area-wide partnerships for evangelistic events

    • Coordinate with our staff in completing required weekly outreach and evangelism contacts

    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of evangelistic efforts

    • Work with the Communications ministry to develop a strategy to keep the church informed about the impact of evangelistic efforts

    • Supervise a reporting system that reflects accountability for outreach and evangelism efforts

  • Missions Responsibilities:

    • Give direction and assistance to various groups within the church that are planning and participating in local, national and international mission trips and partnerships. This is primarily in an advisory capacity with regular opportunities to participate in these trips where appropriate.

    • Act as a liaison with missionaries and organizations the church supports

    • Assist staff to recruit and equip church members for local missions and short-term mission trips.

    • Plan and implement a Thanksgiving missions/outreach event that involves 1,000 plus of our members.

    • Plan and implement an annual “Missions Celebration Dinner” at the church.

    • Manage the “Missions Awareness Center” for keeping our members updated on our mission activities

    • Research, locate, validate and follow up on mission projects, opportunities and needs within the local community as well as home and foreign mission fields

    • Work with the Communications ministry to develop a strategy to keep the church informed about the impact of mission efforts

    • Oversee the church’s two mission homes

    • Supervise a reporting system that reflects accountability

  • Teach, train, develop leaders and organize ministry that models evangelism and missions

  • Develop the annual budget for Evangelism and Missions. Function in an interactive and cross-functional relationship with all other ministries and support areas of the church.

 

We are looking for someone with the following experience / qualifications:

  • Committed Christian also fully committed to the Mission and Core Values of the church

  • Entrepreneurial spirit in developing evangelistic efforts for the church

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills

  • Bilingual English / Spanish a plus

  • Must be licensed and / or ordained to ministry and willing to serve as an active member of the church

  • Minimum of five years experience in evangelism and missions leadership and service

  • Bachelor Degree required. Masters level degree preferred
