Director of Family Ministries


In this full time position, the Director of Family Ministries will recruit, develop and deploy laity driven teams, and partner with parents, to reach and equip students infants through grade 12 to become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.


Position:                     Director of Family Ministries


Accountable to:         Senior Pastor (weekly) and Board of Directors (quarterly)



-Profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

-Model Standards and expectations of leadership within First Methodist Church including a personal devotional life, worship attendance, tithing, serving, witnessing, small group participation, and a dedication to personal development and a healthy lifestyle.

-Wesleyan in theology and practice


Education and Experience       

-The ability to lead and supervise laity teams

-Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred)



-Able to provide vision and direction for all aspects of children, youth, and family ministries

-Self starter that is able to work independently under minimal supervision

-A demonstrated passion and commitment to the spiritual growth of children and youth of all ages

-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, equip, and encourage laity driven teams.

-Ability to partner with parents and engage parent involvement in ministries

-Expertise and continuous learner in children/youth ministries in a family ministries culture

-Strong overall written and oral communication skills

-Gifted speaker/teacher that connects to children, students, and adults

-Systems thinking, planner, and implementer



-Give vision, leadership, and oversight to all aspects of ministry (Sunday school, worship, weeknight programming, missions, outreach, special events, etc.).

-Develop strong unpaid servants and leadership teams to help lead the work of the ministry by implementing dynamic recruiting, training, motivating, and support systems that will in turn be able to equip students for the service of Christ.

-Guide the selection of relevant curriculum for students from infant to grade 12.

-Provide leadership for radical hospitality and prompt follow-up for new visitors as well as regular attendees.

-Create and deploy service and mission experiences for children, students, and their families.

-Create and nurture a safe environment by abiding by the Safe Sanctuaries policy and procedures.

-Attend applicable training and be proactive in researching, reading, and learning about/from other successful children, youth, and family ministry initiatives across the country.

-Make daily ministry and administrative decisions in responsible areas.

 -Assist in the creation and justification of the operating budget. Provide input within responsible ministry areas.
