Job Description:

The Ark Church in Conroe, Texas (just north of Houston) is seeking an experienced Lighting Technician/Programmer who has a passion for participating in planning, set-up, operation and maintenance of audio, video, and lighting equipment for worship services, conferences, and special events.  This position will have a strong emphasis on Lighting and Programming.


The Ark Church began in 1996 with Pastor Alan & Joy Clayton and 2 other couples coming out of Lakewood Church under founding pastor, John Osteen (Joel's father.)  We are a contemporary evangelical church with a charismatic background currently averaging 6,000-7,000 in weekly attendance.

Talents & Abilities:

  • BA Degree in Technical Theater or have equivalent work experience in technical entertainment supervisory experience including lighting design and lighting board programming experience

  • Experience in A/V/L equipment setup, installation and operation

  • Knowledge/experience working with various models of Jands Vista lighting consoles

  • Knowledge of various lighting fixtures - (Conventional, LED, Intelligent)

  • Knowledge of DMX protocol as well as current and emerging TV lighting Technology

  • Knowledge of rigging and gripping skills

  • Ability to generate creative visual concepts to create a great worship environment

  • Be physically able to work at heights and stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure is essential

  • Set Design Experience


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain A/V/L equipment for service and security

  • Setup, install, maintain and operate A/V/L systems equipment

  • An effective troubleshooter with a cool head

  • Dependable, self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative

  • Experience in training and building up volunteers



  • Lighting Tech/Programmer for All Auditoriums and Venues

  • Attend pre-planning meeting and rehearsals

  • Operate Lighting for rehearsals, services and special events


Schedule:    Full Time (40 hours per week)

  • Flexible to accommodate production needs and available to work multiple and varying shifts

  • Currently: Sunday and Wednesday worship services, and Thursday rehearsals
