Life Group Pastor



The Life Group Pastor is responsible for the volunteers, servant leaders, and staff of the Life Group Ministry. The Life Group pastor’s main duties are to strengthen the leadership of, and participation in, Bay Life’s Life Group ministry. In addition, the Life Groups pastor is directly responsible for training, recruiting, coordinating, retaining, and leading new and future Life Group leaders to serve at Bay Life. Finally, this pastor coordinates all Life Groups, and develops volunteer leadership roles as needed.


  • Manage, oversee, and direct all Life Group Ministry activities
  • Oversee and direct the connection process of the Life Group Ministry
  • Plan, build, manage, and execute the annual budget required to support the Life Group Ministry
  • Recruit, train, and mentor Life Group Leaders
  • Oversee and develop Life Group Leaders at Bay Life in the following ways:
  1. Connect with individual Life Group Leaders at least once a month through email, phone, and/or individual meeting,
  2. Meet with Life Groups Team quarterly,
  3. Coordinate annual appreciation event
  • Provide curriculum assessment, guidance, and options for Life Group Leaders
  • Produce sermon-based Life Group Questions weekly during regular Life Group semesters
  • In cooperation with the Bay Life’s Missions department, engage individual Life Groups in outreach and service opportunities
  • Audit home-based Life Group each month to evaluate their spiritual health and vibrancy, and follow-up with the group leader to advise, guide, and/or exhort
  • Demonstrate daily, as a man of one wife, that marriage and family are a priority
  • Attend Pastoral, Staff, meetings as required
  • Support and attend “all-church” and “all-staff” activities
  • Assist the Lead Pastor as directed
  • When scheduled, serve as Pastor on-call when scheduled
  • Pray and lead prayer for Life Groups on a regular basis
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as directed by Executive Pastor


  • Works With: Pastoral Team, Family, Communications, Life Groups, and Events Ministries
  • Reports To: Executive Pastor
  • Bachelors degree required - Theology, Divinity, or Pastoral Counseling degrees preferred
  • Awarded or working towards a Master’s Degree in Divinity, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, or Christian Ministry
  • Experience in Small Group (Life or Home Group Management)
  • Experience in Bible Study and Bible-based Curriculum development
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
