The Metropolitan Baptist Church (The MET Church) is one church that meets in multiple locations. They currently have campuses on Jones Road in Northwest Houston and on Fry Road in Cypress. At each campus you’ll experience a welcoming environment, engaging teaching, and excellent worship. There is a basic reason that the church exists – to go and make disciples of Jesus, who go and make disciples of Jesus. The MET believes that is the highest function of any community of faith.

Pastor Sal Sberna was the Lead Pastor of The MET Church in Houston, Texas, from 1995 until his recent retirement in February 2015. Under his leadership, the church has transitioned to a multi-site model and launched a second campus in Cypress, TX. As a result of Sal’s heart and vision for missions, The MET has reached the community and beyond, to places like Kenya, Uganda, Mexico, and the Philippines.  The MET is a Biblically relational, discipleship-making church, striving for excellence on Sunday morning and drawing both new and established believers weekly.

The Lead Pastor at The MET will be a man of God who can masterfully communicate the Word of God with the transforming power of Jesus Christ. From the pulpit, he will teach the Bible with clarity, pastor the congregation with love, and cast an inspiring vision for the future. He will be a collaborative leader, leaning on and working alongside the high capacity lay and staff leaders around him.

The ideal candidate will possess the following training and experience: a Master of Divinity or its equivalent, 10+years of church leadership experience, relevant experience at a large church (2000+), and multi-site church ministry experience. The successful candidate should also be a dynamic communicator who can connect with mature believers as well as visitors with little church background as well as be a skilled, expository Bible teacher with deep Biblical knowledge and the ability to communicate that knowledge in practical and approachable ways
