Job Description:

Sugar Creek Baptist Church's story began in 1974 when it was established as a mission plant of South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. That small group of people began meeting in a private home in the Sugar Creek sub-division and eventually moved to a commercial property on Highway 59, adjacent to the future, permanent location. The church was officially chartered in 1975 as Sugar Creek Baptist Church.

From 1974 to 2001, under the leadership of the first three pastors, Jim Ranton, Dr. Dalton Havard, and Fenton Morehead, SCBC grew from 150 in worship to a congregation of over 1,700.  During that time, facilities were built, purchased, and expanded, and two nationally recognized outreach ministries, Living Water International (Global) and Second Mile Mission Center (Local), were established.  SCBC has also been involved in the planting of more than 50 churches in the greater Houston area.

This full time director level position will invest his spiritual gifts and leadership abilities within the Adult Ministries Team, with the goal of loving and leading the young adults and men into life-changing community in Christ. This will be achieved primarily through Sugar Creek’s Connection Strategy – groups. Through the Adult Ministry, the successful candidate will supportively engage in collaboration and coordination with other ministry teams as a way of engaging in comprehensive Kingdom ministry and staff teamwork at SCBC. The successful candidate will have a proven track record as a leader of leaders, demonstrating success in equipping the saints to do the work of the ministry. They will show a high degree of effectiveness in working and communicating in a multi-staff, multi-site setting. The successful candidate will also have a proven record of being a gifted leader and communicator.
