Riverbend Church

Director of High School Ministry

Riverbend Church
Austin, Texas, United States

Categories: Youth Pastor
Denominations: Not Applicable
Church Size: 2001 to 2500
Job Type: Full-Time

Job Description:
As the Director of High School Ministry, you will work with the Student Ministry Pastor to oversee all aspects of the high school program.  Primary responsibilities would include: Sunday morning teaching, communication with parents, student discipleship, volunteer recruitment and development, special event planning and contact work.  You will work in a highly collaborative environment under the Student Ministry Pastor and alongside a Director of Middle School Ministry and Student Ministry Intern.  We spend a lot of time meeting together as a staff for planning and training purposes and need someone who works well with a team.
Our ideal candidate is someone who loves forming relationships with high school students from a wide variety of backgrounds and who takes great joy in forming deep spiritual connections with students.  This position would require a lot of teaching responsibilities so we would like someone who has a strong desire to teach the Bible, even if there is a lot of room for growth.  We would prefer someone with 1-4 years of student ministry experience who is looking for the chance to grow.  More than anything, we need someone whose love for Jesus is so obvious in the way that they live and talk that students can not help but experience Him when they participate in our high school ministry.

Here’s a little bit about Riverbend: Over the last decade God has been transforming Riverbend from its beginnings as one of the original seeker churches in America into a missionally oriented church committed to serving others in Austin and around the world. Over that time we have been pursing a vision of becoming a community of faith that seeks to make others’ lives better.  While maintaining our commitment to be an accessible environment for anyone to begin a spiritual journey, we have increasingly encouraged and empowered those in our community to stretch themselves in local and global outreach. We do this through homeless ministries, a strong presence in the most underserved neighborhoods of our city, through a sister church partnership in El Salvador and through a variety of arts and music oriented initiatives in Austin. We are not afraid to take risks and are looking for people who have a similar cultural orientation and calling.
